Just to say hi,I'm from Niger in west-Africa (*not Nigeria,cause sometimes it's a confusion.)
I'm interested in Banana business specially a specie called Plantain in here... Can somebody tell me if it's possible to grow it in the Sahel like in my country or if somebody have tryed it in a dry country like mine Pat. |

Well Pat - I'm not sure how plantains would do in your area - most need quite a bit of water - perhaps they would grow well on the banks of a stream. Good luck

Welcome aboard! You may want to research the drought-hardy varieties of plantain; I am sure there is something suitable for Niger. I seem to recall them being grown in Chad as well; the plantains that I'm familiar with here in Ecuador (south america) are very water-intensive. Or, as Cassie suggested, try planting on the banks of streams or water holes.
