![]() Hello 👋 …. Thanks for allowing me to join! I’m Elize, retired, like to garden a little. I grow a few edible bananas (manzano, dwarf cavendish and have acquired a few veinti cohols this year). I don’t know a thing about the veinti cohols but thought to give them a try. Since I didn’t succeed with my blue Java banana, I thought it might be smart to try to learn more about these plants that I love but have had trouble with. I’m not an expert and I learn as I go with gardening. Found this organization by chance and thought it would be nice to join so that I may expand my knowledge in general about bananas and the many varieties from experts within this forum and those who just have great knowledge and experience to share. Thanks again and can’t wait to see what everyone has and to learn about as many as I can. LOL!
~ cheers |

![]() Hi Elize-
Welcome aboard the Banana Express. ![]() What part of SoCal are you in? I lived in Lemon Groove for a few horrible months, back in '88.

![]() Ahh, now the Bandaids moniker makes sense!
![]() ![]() There are several members on here that currently reside in the South Bay City, so I'm sure you'll be able to network. Once in a great while, I get someone who actually understands what the KGB sticker on my window actually means, LOL. Again, welcome to the site. ![]()

![]() I think San Diego Metro may have the largest concentration of members than any other area.

Thank you. So cool that you know my neighborhood! LOL! Do you live in PL? We lived in Mission Hills prior to moving here. AND ... is that a bunch of blue java for your profile pic? Asking bc I failed in growing my first ever banana which happened to be blue java. If I can find another one, I'd like to try again. I'm a bit wiser now as to growing a few things. LOL |

![]() Bananas have really become popular in the area since I was out there, but that's 30+ years ago. The only nanners I saw when I was out there, was a dried up clump of Musa basjoo near Dumas St.
