Re: Do I have Spider Mites?
Funny, I call my plants "she(s)" but I have no idea because they are all self-pollinating LOL!
Well good luck with him, we're rooting for you! |

Re: Do I have Spider Mites?
Ah, a few days ago I definitely had spider mites on my red banana. Believe it or not I was out of my "all natural soap" spray stuff and went with whatever I could find that I felt would not harm the leaves. This poor banana was LOADED with these darn things!
I waited to post to watch for any type of damage I might have done, and while it has only been a couple of days, I see no sign (YET) of them coming back. What did I use??? WINDEX!! LOL! I wrapped Saran Wrap around the stem to cover the soil, set them in the shower (this guy is only about three feet tall) and sprayed the living daylights out of them with Windex! I rubbed it in (gently of course) all over underneath the leaves, up and down the stems, etc ... and when I was sure not a half inch of plant was missed, I rinsed the whole plant down in a nice luke warm shower. I put Saran Wrap on the soil because I was not sure if the Windex would harm the roots. Seems to have worked and not only that, the leaves are gorgeous shiny! LOL! There seems to be no more leaf damage other than what was already done by the mites already after three days. Will keep you posted if they come back right away or if I notice a change, but in a pinch, Windex seems to work. At least it got them OFF my poor plant!! |
