Smile Dead Stalk?
Have my first banana plant and right now I'm looking at what appears to be a dead stalk. I'm told its not and I should cut it about 24" up from the base and wait till summer for it to regrow and for rhizomes to also appear. Is this true?

Welcome to Bananas......so it should happen, but if freezing did not affect the root , you'll see in the spring when new shoots come out .... success.
But do not cut now ... leave it until spring and then cut the top a little and see if green healthy tissue can beat again in the middle of the plant ... good luck.

I had the same thing happen this weekend. The leaves are wilted looking and sad. I covered them up tight but it hit them anyway.
