my banana trees are falling over before the fruit is ripe. the stalks have dark runs up the tree. some bug is boring into the tree and making trails. i believe it is carpenter ants. what are the signs and how to get rid of them with fruit on the trees.

Try to dig up a plant. Cut the corm in half. They are most likely corm weevils. Cut their favorite banana up, slice it in half and set the traps around the mat. A female weevil can lay an egg everyday.

I've seen large black ants tunnel and destroy a pseudostem but it never became a problem and I never tried to identify the ants.

My pest aren't boring; they're annoying.
Hey, someone had to say it...I'm not the only one who thought it. Welcome. Hope you get your situation under control. I've become a huge fan of Neem.
