Blue banana bags
Hello - we're developing a new type of insecticidal textile that could be be used in banana bags but which isn't impregnated with chlorpyriphos. Can anyone tell me how much these bags cost? Ours kills insects but doesn't contain any chemical insecticide so is safe to use and more environmentally friendly. Anybody interested?

Re: Blue banana bags
Hi - no it wasn't a clear enough message but thanks for replying. I'd like to find out as much as possible about the existing (chlorpyriphos-treated) blue bags. How much are they, and what size and weight? We're developing an alternative that would be at least as cheap and effective but without harmful chemicals, based on a new patented technology. Any info gratefully received.

Figure out the cost of producing your bags: Cost of materials Cost of labor Cost of overhead (space rental, equipment (divided by expected life) etc. Add 10% for contingencies Add 15% for your profit This is what your bags should sell for. |

Hi Waggoner 41:
Thanks very much for your reply but as you'll see from our website (www.xeroshield.co.uk) the fact that the current bags are poisoning workers, their families and the environment is precisely why we want to develop an alternative. It's the whole ethos of our company - safe, chemical-free alternatives can be developed. The hardest part isn't the technology, it's getting the investment to develop it. Best wishes, Bruce |

Trying to access your provided web address at 8:20PM (your time) on November 16 I get the following message "This page can't be displayed". Living on Social Security provided by the U.S. I can't afford to invest but I can spread the word in Costa Rica and see what turns up. |
Re: Blue banana bags
Hi Waggoner:
Thanks a lot - nothing on our website about banana bags but this is something we're going to be concentrating on. I have alot of experience in Latin America but not much of Costa Rica - mentioning our name would be a big help. We need contacts there. Even the big producers could benefit from this - there are other ways of killing insect pests besides chemicals. Best wishes, Bruce |
