Banananutter
Hi,
I am new to the forum and have tried a banana plant once before but it died. I was told that it was fairly hardy and kept it in a polytunnel last winter but it did not survive. I have bought a pair of dwarf cavendish about 300mm tall and could do with advice. What size pots do they like, the best mixture to plant them in and watering and feeding? I am in south east England Thanks |

Howdy banananutter: Welcome Aboard. methinks I would put them in 1 gal pots, and bring them inside if the temps get below 45 F. Water once a week, check for critters weekly and look for roots trying to escape your pots. If seen, jump to a bigger pot, with a well draining mix. Depending on amount of growth, fertilize once per month or so, with a good mix. Go back into archive and look up "banana fuel", from another member. Great info, so you don't get ripped off by fertlizer sales people!
