Bamboo and Bananas
Hello All,
I own and run Middle Tennessee Bamboo Farm. I am growing what I think are Musa Basjoo plants, and I am considering starting a line of banana plants that will fit well with the bamboo. This would give me an additional income stream and complement the tropical look that many of my customers desire. We have more than 90 varieties of evergreen cold hardy bamboo, and many are extremely rare. I would like to collect and trial as many varieties of bananas that can survive and do well here in Middle Tennessee. I consider our area a 6b despite the map showing us as 7a. We frequently have single digit fahrenheit temps due to polar fronts sliding down the Ohio valley. Our farm consists of 33 acres of beautiful bamboo groves and mature trees. We are fortunate to have two spring fed creeks that traverse the farm, and lots of wild animals, and birds. I'm looking forward to collecting and growing banana plants! Best regards, David |
