in the ruins of an old monestry attached to La Merced Church in Antigua,

This is the closest palm I could find in Phu Coq and in my photos, but that is
by no means exhaustive. I do believe, however, that the picture Ed supplied
resembles mine more. Accordingly, pending further evidence, the verdict is
bamboo. :)
