Expert Member plaques removed

No more "Expert Member" system.
Hope the change is welcome.
I think its best we do without it. Sounded like a fun thing at first... but it alienates some members, some other members that did qualify for it didn't want it, etc. etc... the reasons are quite numerous and tip the scale in the direction that says to ditch it.
Back to bananas!

I didn't even notice mine was gone until I saw this thread. Either way was OK with me. We're all constantly in the learning process anyhow. Thanks, Jarred.

I think most people here are aware that the underlying software of a site like this is "pre-fabricated" -- the owner of the site chooses a program with appealing features, and then customizes it to whatever purpose. The member "rating" system based on number of posts comes with the package Jarred is using, and nearly all packages one might consider. And basically, we all discovered that we don't need a member rating system!

Not all web sites have been so fortunate. A friend of mine owns a web site which is working very hard at defining who gives good advice, poor advice, and so on. Its a sad state of affairs and I'm not sure they will ever "get it". Here at Bananas.org, there is tremendous good will. Must be all that potassium.

Thanks, Jarred. One thing I noticed is that it was just another thing in the left border that made even short posts take up a fairly large amount of room on my monitor. I don't think the system will be missed at all.

If you wouldn't mind looking into it, some other things in the left border probably don't need to be there. For instance, I don't really need to know how many $B someone has or how many times they have thanked or welcomed someone.

Hey, Mitchel, want to be a little more equal and spread all those bucks around??

Maybe you can use some of those bucks to buy an ad to promote your contest....as if they aren't popular enough as it is!

I noticed tonight that the "Expert" system hasn't been eliminated completely, just the seal/plaques. I was searching for a member and see that the directory still has a category displayed for expert status. I guess that is kind of discreet except now that I've mentioned it!

I agree that the THANKS and THANKED counters are useless information. Who cares? Just more clutter.
