http://www.bananas.org/credits.php?do=banking At the top of that section, you will see your checking total and your savings total. Compare your savings total with your transaction log towards the bottom of that page, and you'll see that once you reconcile the totals, exactly how much interest has calculated for you. Interest is given at 30 days, so if it's not exactly 30 yet, know that it will happen then. |

![]() The best part is picking a recipe of some beer you like and making yourself. You don't have to pay a brewery 1/2 way around the world to make it and ship it to you. The summer ale that I'm drinking now is around $.35 per 16oz. glass. ![]() I'm still researching banana beer recipes. Banana flavor in beer (at least in the home brew world) is a sign that you did something wrong (with no bananas added to the beer). I intend to introduce it on purpose as a fermentable sugar and see how it tastes. |

Unless you use a hefeweizen yeast, its suppose to make banana and clove easters and phenals flavors. How much is your choice by controling the temperature.
I just finished a California Common and I have a hefeweizen carbonating right now. Next I think I will make a pale ale. Price of grain has gone through the roof though and hops are expensive now too. $0.35 per 160z glass is a great price. You must have a great homebrew store near you. I live in a pretty small town so I have to take what I can get. No way can I make it for that cheap and I get my bags of base malt in 55 lb sacks. Price of grain went from $55/55lbs to $75/55lb bag. I am not doing it for the cost though, its a hobbie. It runs me about $0.60/bottle not counting propane and water, but I am sure they are not the bulk of the cost. I just started growing Kent Goldings and Hallertauer so I hope to get my hop cost down. Maybe I will start reusing yeast. I don't really have a place to store it right now. If I can get those costs down I am down to about $.30/bottle. Last edited by modenacart : 05-18-2008 at 10:40 PM. |

Ouch! That's a hefty jump in grain costs. I harvest my yeast for about 5 generations or so. Best is to top crop, but not always feasible with a carboy, in which case I pull it outta the secondary after kegging. I picked up a 15 gallon conical and the lid is big enough now for top cropping... I get partial bottles of propane for free from my work, so there's no cost there, and my water bill is the same if I use 5 gallons of 500 gallons of water. The only way for me to drop my cost more than it is already is to find extract for less than $1 a pound, and reuse my yeast more than 5 times. I have a summer ale in the kegerator that I used a Nugget hop for bittering, and Hallertauer for the flavor and aroma. I'm about to brew a Red Rye, and I need to make more Oatmeal Stout! ![]() Take care! Jeff |

I have a plastic conical out of a medical supply catalog ($300 new, but mine was $200 used). Designed for growing plasma. You have to use a soft brush so's you don't scratch it, but it works great!
