Musa Basjoo Problems/Questions

Hello, I have been having some problems getting my Musa Basjoo banana trees to grow outside. I purchased them a little over a month ago from ebay and received some healthy baby trees. I then planted them in large pots and kept them indoors due to the bad weather Nebraska has been having lately. The room they were in is a large glass room with many windows but a solid roof so the plants didn't see much direct sun, it was mainly bright light. Since the weather seemed to warm up nicely and nighttime temperatures were high enough I moved the containers outside to let them adjust to direct sunlight. Needless to say they didn't like that very much and many of the leaves burned, one of the plants burned so bad I had to cut it back and its currently growing a new leaf back out. It took about a week for them to better adjust so I finally transplanted them outside in various full sun areas of the yard and have been fertilizing them as needed however the plants don't look as nice as they should, the leaves seem to still burn a bit and the ones that don't just look plain bad. They are a pail greenish color with a hint of yellow mixed in and seem almost deformed. They tend to get little circular burn marks in the leaves. I have attached a few pictures of the odd coloration on some of the leaves. I also noticed that one of them wanted to kinda grow at an angle instead of straight up as you can see in one of the pictures. To answer any common questions, yes I water often, yes I fertilize often every week or so. As for the soil? I'm not entirely sure how well it drains. As for state I live in Nebraska. The weather has been getting into the low 50's at night and its been cloudy and rainy the past few days, today has been in the mid 80's with full sun. I hope nothing severe is wrong with them. I am thinking maybe its just because of the shock of transplanting and the odd weather patterns but they have been in the ground over a week now.

Hello everyone,
So I was curious, other than height, is there any major difference between the dwarf namwah and the ice cream? They look pretty similar overall. Thanks!

Banana leaves yellowing and dying!

Hello everybody

i'm new to bananas.org and really hope you can help me! I have posted some pictures here (Banana Gallery - tom.decree Gallery) so you all can see the evolution of my banana plant.

The first pic was taken at the end of 2011, as you can see : a very nice plant with lots of green leaves. The next pic was taken june 2012, again still growing and shining. But then it went wrong. As from 2013 i had to cut the leaves one by one because they first began to yellow, then brown and just rot. Today I still have only 4 leaves left (all yellow and brown). I haven't changed anything regarding nutrition of soil.

Strangest thing is that I don't think the plant is sick, because again as from 2013 we have had 5 pups from that plant (none of them really shooting up when apart from the mother plant but still...).

I really hope you/bananas.org can give me some help about what's going on. If you need more information from me of pics, just ask.

Thank you all in advance!

Greetings from Belgium.

Hello everyone,
I have an 8 ft. Ice Cream in a 30 gal. smart pot with 3 pups and 1 more that's just appeared. Two are now close to 2 ft. tall and very close to the motherplant. I would love to remove 2 and repot them but I'm not sure if 1) the pups are big enough and 2) if it would harm the motherplant. Because it's an enormous plant in an enormous pot, it would be great if there were anyway to remove the pups without taking the entire plant out. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Thousand fingers question

A few months ago I was in search of a thousand fingers and a praying hands, found the thousand fingers at a plant show at our local botanical garden this past March. So it's in the ground and it's very happy, a leaf every week and now just a few days ago I noticed 2 pups (Hooray) so I go out this morning to yank the relentless weeds from around it and find that one of the pups has a blush or a definite red blotch on one side of the leaf, it's pigment... not a burn. Is this normal in this type banana, the Mother plant has all dark green leaves without any red/blushed streaking...I wanted a thousand fingers I hope this is what the guy said it was and not a mystery nana.
Any ideas??

Hello my name is Tiffany and I am a proud new owner of a grand nain banana tree. Well the place sold a 2 pack for twenty five bucks. So i took one and gave one to a friend. I live in Illinois and our hardiness zone is a 5-6. I decided to plant it in a pot so I would not have to winterize the tree. My plant is flourishing even though I am clueless about plants. I have about 9 beautiful leaves and is almost two feet tall. My leaves are growing like bananas lol. Anyways I am learning along the way the things he likes and dislikes because the leaves shrivel up when he is discontented. With that said the problem is the other one. Mistake number one is he planted it in the ground in mid-spring cold night weather and I suggested after two weeks of being in ground to move him to a small pot. When the plant was in the ground it was regular ground soil. So mistake number two was he put it in a large container about id say 3 gallon for a small 3 leaf tree that looked sick. With some funky bagged soil that smelled? So seemingly since mine is doing well I took on the second one to revive it so to say. I re-potted it which is 3rd transplant within 30 days. I changed to a small 8 oz pot to get it be healthy since it is small. All i had at the time. Plus I changed to miracle grow potting soil that has a mositure additive. I trimmed the leave and watered it as needed plus daily mistings. So with that said it has not done anything and i am very concerned its beyond dead. Two of three leave look sick and one is ok. I dont know what to do please help. Need advice on how to revive over transplanted plant.:03:

Not sure if this has been posted before, but I found this article about banana irrigation very informative. (not that I can judge critically as an expert) I thought I would share. Thanks.

Bought a small plant last year and planted it where it would receive sun almost all day.Put out a few years after like two months. Then was kinda a dud. Dug for storage and found fire ants nest in the roots. Got rid of them and wintered stored it with light and it stayed above 60 all the time. Wasn't really happy, started watering it more and grew really great then stopped and looked crappy again. It's been sitting in the yard now planted in a new spot for months and still not taking off. Think it was a tc plant as the grower I got it from gets others as plugs,so figure the same with this. All my other banners are growing great in the same location. Are these plants picky?
