Up for your consideration is one of the rarer and harder to find Staghorn Ferns. Platycerium Andinum is the only Platycerium species native to the Americas. It is normally found growing high in the trees in a few remote locations in Peru. It likes to be kept dry and will not tolerate being kept continuously wet. The plant in the photo is the actual plant you will receive. It is mounted on 12" x 12" teak slat base, you can easily judge the size of the plant from these dimensions. One of the more incredible looking plants when fully mature-they will encircle an entire tree branch and produce long fertile fronds and a crown of upright divided base fronds. Platy. Andinum produces 2 mirror image fertile fronds each season and a pair of upright base fronds,(mostly entire-like lettuce leaves, when young), per plant. It will produce more plants from around the older base fronds, unlike some of the other larger Stags like Superbum or Grande. Striking and unusual, a must have for the collector of the harder to find species. You can find additional information on this rare species here; http://www.platycerium.co.za/p__andinum.htm
Very reasonably priced for a specimen this size. Good luck and thank you for looking!
