Four weeks ago I planted 10 banana varities in small plastic cups, three seeds per cup and placed them in a rubbermaid rack system on the back deck. I soaked the Zebrina seeds overnight but all others were directly sown. I'll document thier growth and the future seed success, cause its fun and hopefully there is interest here.

I currently have 2 Ensete Ventricosum Abysiaian shoots, one about 3 inches and another just emerging.

Varities planted (spelling =)

Ensete Ventricosum Abysiaian
Ensete SNow Banana
Musa Sikimensis Red Tiger
Musa Helen's Hybrid
Musa Darjeeling Giant
Musa Paradisiace
Musa Sikkimensis Red Flash
Ensete Kluay Pa
Musa Yunnanensis
Musa Zebrina

Had a PM with questions about seed vendor.

I bought the seeds from the ebayer seller Georgia Vines. Pretty cheap and she had combined shipping. all seeds seemed healthy and ready to rock.

I was wondering how the germination process is going??? Any more pop up and how are they doing?? Im about to try to grow some bananas from seed.

Congrats southern!

Reading your success makes me feel better, as I have sown 20 seeds, half of them a month ago, the half two weeks ago, and have yet to see a single one sprout. For someone use to sowing tomato and other veggie seeds and seeing them germinate in 3-10 days, trying to get bananas to germinate is really trying!
