Termites and the extra weight from the rain broke the support piece in half. Lucky it didn't crash through my neighbors roof! Took out the power for the whole area until they switched it at another pole. The lineman said they weigh 600 pounds.

I dont know, I doubt about that weight. Our distribution sistem is much different than yours and our transformers arent pole mounted, and are much bigger.

Those pine cones are great for fire pits, or the indoor fireplace if you like the smell. I just collected a bag full of them for our fire pit this last weekend.

Saw the picture of Noah's new calf, and it made me think back. When I was a kid, my parents had a summer home, a little north of the city. In those days, we had bread men, and milk men, who made home deliveries. Our milkman, in the country, had his own dairy farm, a short distance from our country house. He brought us milk, a couple of times a week and, in the spring, a load of manure for the vegetable garden. My brother and I would sometimes walk over to the farm. The farmer would "let" us feed the cows. One time, my brother persuaded my parents to let him bring his best friend up for a couple of days. On the way home, we passed right by the farm. My brother got my father to stop, so he coul show his friend the animals. When we got there, the farmer told us that he had, in the first field, a cow that had given birth that morning. He asked us if we would go out and bring the calf into the barn. What an experience for a young "city-boy"!

I also remember the milk man and some of the farm life outside of the city. These animals bring us a bundle of enjoyment. We milk when it is available and always make sure enough is left for the calf.

Talking of the old days and milkmen, we still have the eggman we have had for over 50 years. He drives down from his farm in lower Pa. every 2 weeks. He also brings fruit in season. Best eggs in the world!

We had a milk man too. He used to bring one regular and one chocolate milk. A few years later my father went to work for that same dairy as the store manager. I got to spend time with the cows, see the whole milking process, see the calves, go on hayrides etc. Good times!

No I saw it while walking. That thing is bigger around than some of my large banana pseudo stems! The plants are enormous too, taller than me and I'm 6'2"

Here is another angle. The garage door on the left is a two car sized door and is about 7 feet tall. Seeing these plants up close is really cool!

Yeah I think you are correct.

They say on this site they only get 6 feet tall, wrong! These ones might be close to 9 feet. I'll keep track of it as it flowers and get some pics.

Our Cocker pups are forever in need of "pruning". Fortunately the hair is good for the garden as it applies nitrogen into the soil. Don't have a dog, go to your barber and get some of what they just throw away. Easy way to get some nitrogen into the soil.

Interesting. I'll have to read more about this because we own two Australian Shepherds that shed like crazy.
