I dug to many pups off a plant and it fell over about 25 deg. it corrected its self in a month and the bend is about 2 inches above the soil line. it looks normal now, I have no camera so no pics.
I have a pup that has slowly bent itself. It's rooted firm but it grows in an angle of 60 degrees.
EDIT: I think the reason for that is that because the plant is still so small it mostly gets sunlight from one direction.

I know I've corrected pups from 'the bend' they have naturally from creeping up the side of the mother. Basically, plant the corm directly up no matter what direction the pup goes. Then do 2 things.. 1) Put a rock or a thin brick (depending on the size of the pot) under one side of the pot to make the pup over-corrected - facing it more of a downward angle than it's already at. 2) put the pup against an east facing wall where it gets only morning sun and face the foliage to the wall. It will quickly respond by stretching its fronds (possibly even the new ones) toward the light.
Usually by the time the second new leaf has unrolled, it's back upright, and the determinate direction will continue upward.
- Re: making it go sideways - I think that's probably the easiest position for a banana tree to be in.. lol! ;)

Well, it'd probably be difficult to get a curved stem like a palm tree, but you could probably get a lean with either tipping the pot, like RJ said or by making it work for sunlight. My Siam Ruby was pretty leaned a couple months ago to get around the other plants around it. Here's a pic:

I started turning it to get it to stand straight. It's pretty upright now though since it's taller.

I've done it when they are young and freshly planted, but have not had any luck leaning a pup that is attached to the mother.
