Depends on how far they have to travel, how they are shipped (bareroot is my fav.), and when they are shipped. Mine were shipped on a Wed. and sat all weekend, and died, but they all came back, except for one=[

It depends on a ton of factors. Who is shipping and their experience in shipping plants, The temperature, the distance, the size of the plant, bare root or potted, how well it was packed, whether you use priority mail or the regular postal service, etc. Oh yeah and whether you use camel :camelnaner: or not

I have had several bananas shipped to me but rarely find any of them have died due to the shipping. I agree with the other people who have replied.

Every plant wherever it is, potted or planted, was once in transit. Either the plant, or it's ancestors.
Keep that in mind!
People have been shipping plants much longer than we've been around. They usually make it from point A to point B.
It would be an evolutionary disaster if plants didn't travel well.

Musa_Cavandish,
I live in Toronto and I frequently have plants mailed from the U.S. One box of 6 bananas that I ordered was stuck at customs for 15 days! When I finally received the box most of the plants had brown spots and showed no signs of active growth for weeks. I decided to peel off each leaf from the psuedostem until I saw green active growth. Unfortunately for some of the pups that was all the way to the corm. I only lost one pup in that box, but luckily I bought 2 of each species in that order:banana_ba .
So, to answer your question, bananas ship very well even when they are stuck at customs!.
I frequently send packages to my brother in St. John's and they usually arrive promptly with Canada post expedited. I have a feeling it is going to be a long cold winter for you in Newfoundland. What most people don't realize is that it is not the temperature that is bad in Newfoundland, but it is the never ending WIND!:kiteflyingnanergif:
