Hi all!
Great site here and I hope I can contribute. I live in Cleveland,OH and have been growing banana plants here for about 30 years. I also carve Tikis- in wood found in this area- and palm wood from Florida. I am a member of Tikicentral.com as well. Look for posts from freddimon if you like. I just found out that there are hardy bananas that can survive outside in our cold winter months- with plenty of mulch. I have grown some really nice looking ground planted bananas this summer. I'd like to just leave them in ground if I could. And so the musa basjoo is what I hope I have been growing in pots all these previous years. I understand it is the hardiest... but we aquired the banana plant 30 years ago in Jamaica, so I have to wonder what it really is! And so my first question is... how do I know what kind of plant I have?
Thanx for reading this!
