I love the way Variegated tapioca looks and there is a seller on ebay that says it's hardy Zones 8-11 but everywhere I've looked they say that it's very tender.
Had anyone had success growing it in Zone 8- especially in NC/SC border?

They are not hardy here where I am at..Zone 9b..my winters will kill them as well..unless it is in a greenhouse staying warm..

That was kind of my thought... especially since no one answered this post for 3-4 days. I guess some sellers want to fudge the numbers a bit to get more orders, though they should know that it won't pay off in the long run.

I always thought they were not hardy outside of Zone 10 but mine successfully came back here in Zone 9a and looks better than last year. It was grown in a pot but in a protected location and our low last winter was 28. So, maybe with protection, it will occasionally come back.

I think it comes back from the root every year even when you are in zone 8

I know regular Tapioca can... I may try it- It's supposed to grow fast, so if it comes back each time, that'd be awsome.
