I am afraid I have murdered 2 IC pups. I used a nice sharp shovel and cut at an angle as shown in one of the posts here, but I got very little root. I only intended to remove 1 pup but I got stung by a wasp and cut and ran...literally. I put root stimulator on the root and potted them. I need advice on how far to cut them back to give them a chance to survive.

Do you mean how far to cut them back for the winter ?

There is very little root on these pups. Will the small amount of root support the top? Won't the plant be stressed?

I would put it out of direct sun and it should be fine.

Did you get any CORM at all?.............If you were able to get at least a bit of corm you have a good chance.Do not worry about the roots or broken ones, they will regrow.

I hope I did. I am a novice at growing bananas. I tried to cut toward the mother plant.

you'll be fine. If you notice any of the leafs on the bottom drying up, it's normal while it's rooting

I recently cut some pups from my SDC and a couple of them had no roots to speak of. All but the top leaf has shriveled up and the top one is not looking the greatest, however, I planted one of them in a transparent container and the root growth is amazing after only one week. You will be surprised at how much abuse a banana can take. Keep us updated.
