I recently transplanted 6 of these to my yard from a nice lady on craigslist who's yard was taken over with them(more then 100). She said they were there when she bought the house and had never seen fruit on them. But she has repeatedly lopped them all off trying to kill them. So I will leave it to the Banana experts.

LOL your only in spartanburg check the charleston craigslist for nanners, Im sure she has a bunch left and you could snag as many as you can carry.
When I stepped out her back door and seen the forest i was like a kid in a candy store. It was painful cutting the leaves off for transport.
So many and my yard is so getting full. One mat had 3 7 footers and 3 2' pups.

yup but the 10 to 15 are seriously 100 or more. She thought each clump was a plant but each clump is a mat of 6 or 7. Some 8' all the way down to lil' pups.

Looks like M. balbisiana, but a flower is needed to be 100% sure.

Nice Score. I saw that add too.
I'd guess they are orinocos.
She said they were there when she bought the house and had never seen fruit on them. But she has repeatedly lopped them all off trying to kill them.
I hear this a lot. I think that whacking them down causes them to spread, makes for lots and lots of pups, retards fruiting.
