I stumbled on this site by accident will looking up information about muriate of potash for a few bananas I have. Glad to see there are others around who enjoy the plants as much as I do.
I have about 5 species, only one of which makes anything worth eating. Got two small bunches so we should have something edible in a few weeks.
I'll stay in touch and look forward to lots of good information.

Welcome to the site! You'll find no shortage of plant nerds here! This is the only group of people that put me to shame at times in that regard! Hope you enjoy it here and learn a lot!

I don't have a DNA ID on these plants but I think I have the following.
M. velutina
Saba
Ice Cream
Japanese Fiber
Red Leaf (not to certain about this one)
I would say the Saba is currently in the 18-22 ft tall range. Pretty neat to see leaves as long or longer than I am tall.

Interesting how many people around the world really enjoy these plants. I thought my dad and I were the only two around that seemed to really like the plants. I'll try to post a couple of pictures soon. Thanks for all the welcomes.
