How is it that the paparazzi can get photos of MJ's corpse, celebrities marriages, vacations and children, yet they have not scored any shots of Jaycee Dugard or her children? Enquiring minds want to know!
Anyone else fascinated with this case?

You may be right, she did for all intents and purposes run his printing business.
I did find one photo (pixelated faces) of her girls attending a birthday party a few days before she was "set free", I use that term loosely.
I'm fascinated with this case.

Me too! I am wondering about that.
I guess it would be silly to even contemplate that the paparazzi have some small heart. I hope no pics ever surface of the poor kid.

Here is a good story about the cases progress.
Jaycee Lee Dugard kidnapper is linked to the murders of prostitutes and a girl of 15 | Mail Online (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1210113/Jaycee-Lee-Dugard-kidnapper-linked-murders-prostitutes-girl-15.html)
They think he may have been a serial killer and are searching the property next door that he used to have access to. Notice in one of the pictures they are using an Australian Shepherd (like mine) to sniff for cadavers.
Bob, I totally understand how you feel about not wanting the children exploited, but it's just a matter time, the sharks are circling as we speak. My curiosity wants to see them and learn what becomes of them, like the other two girls from Austria I think it was that were kept in cellars for eons. They both have very interesting stories about their progress since. I'll find some info about them and post it.

This bit is haunting:
A former neighbour, Patrick McQuaid, said he spoke to Jaycee through the fence soon after she was abducted in 1991, but did not realise she was a missing girl. Mr McQuaid, 27, was a child when he saw the pretty blonde girl through the chicken wire that then separated their homes.
She told her she was living at the house and that her name was Jaycee, but before she could say any more she was ushered back into the house by Garrido.
'I didn't think anything of it - I was young,' he said, adding that a tall fence was put up days later.

I'm very interested in this case too. I should know this, but I missed the part about how they were found out. Jaycee's daughters are miners so they can't print pics of them, nor can they show pics of a rape victim.
But, I'm wondering same thing about why they aren't swarming the house they are in now. I saw a brief interview w/ a neighbor & he said, once he looked thru cracks in fence & saw some guys back there partying & high fiving each other. Makes me wonder & I shudder at the thought of them being involved too.
Can anyone tell this too-busy-to-read-or-watch-news curious person how they got found out?

Here is the low down Patty. A woman's intuition is what saved them.
"He arrived Aug. 24, at the police office at the University of California, Berkeley, with two girls, ages 11 and 15. He announced he wanted to hold a religious event on campus related to a group called God's Desire. He seemed weird and unstable. But it was the pale, blonde, blue-eyed girls in drab dresses who really set off alarm bells.
"There were some things about him and the kids that were really alarming, that just didn't settle right with me," said Lisa Campbell, the department's manager of special events, who previously worked as a police officer in Chicago and a background investigator for the Los Angeles Police Department.
So she arranged another meeting for the next day, and called upon officer Ally Jacobs to join her. Jacobs ran a records check — and discovered that Garrido was a registered sex offender who had been convicted of rape and kidnapping more than 30 years ago.
The girls unnerved Jacobs, as well. They seemed programmed — "almost like `Little House on the Prairie' meets robots," she says.
The younger girl "was staring directly at me," says Jacobs, the mother of two small boys. "It was almost like she was looking into my soul. ... Her eyes were so penetrating."
When Jacobs asked her about a bump near her eye, "she immediately replied with this very rehearsed response: `It's a birth defect ... I'll have it for the rest of my life.'
"I was a little taken aback. ... She just wouldn't stop smiling."
The older daughter, meanwhile, stared at the ceiling and looked at her father "in awe, as if she were in worship of him. I kind of got the feeling that these kids were like robots."
Garrido gave them copies of his book he had written called "Origin of Schizophrenia Revealed." They had a hard time following his conversation.
But he revealed the girls were home-schooled by his wife, with an assist from him. The girls said they had an older sister at home, 28 or 29, and that seemed strange, too, that she was even mentioned.
Finally, Jacobs says, Garrido grabbed his oldest daughter and said: "'I'm so proud of my girls. They don't know any curse words. We raised them right. They don't know anything bad about the world."'
By then, she says, "my police mode turned into my mother mode."
A call was made to Garrido's parole officer. A terrible secret was about to be revealed."
That's the most horrible thing I've ever read an I couldn't keep reading it. I think those poor kid's identities should be protected at all costs. I think they should get the best care possible and I won't say what I think should be done to that sicko cause it'd be just as bad or worse than what he did.
And I think it is kind of weird that MJ got all that publicity (that I totally ignored) while I never saw anything about this.

I wonder if these girls will be truthful of what happened to them or will they try to protect him? Will they admit anything involving those other men? Will they identify them? I want to know about this. What & how did they eat?
The daughters will need lots of counseling - they don't know what a 'normal' life is.
I watched the Jeff Dahmer trial & was fascinated with that too. That story was so horrific, they wouldn't make a movie of it. I have a feeling it'll be the same here.

Yeah, who knows how this will end. Is he a serial killer? Guess we'll find out sooner or later. I'd also like to know what he has to say to Jaycees parents. Judging from the comments he's already made I don't think he'll admit any guilt. And why did he force her and the kids to live in the backyard if he knew they were not going to run? Was it the wife that forced the issue? Maybe she was jealous? Jaycee probably had Stockholm syndrome which would explain a lot of her behavior. So many questions.
As for Jaycee and the girls I really doubt they'll ever have a "normal" life and I don't think any amount of counseling will help, although one of the Austrian girls that was kept in a cellar for a long time did make good progress and is actually in a serious loving relationship now with her body gaurd, so who knows! I certainly wish the best for them. The people in the town where she was kidnapped had a parade for her today.
Friends and supporters of Jaycee Lee Dugard parade in South Lake Tahoe | L.A. Now | Los Angeles Times (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/09/friends-and-supporters-of-jaycee-lee-dugard-parade-in-south-lake-tahoe.html)

I don't understand why they lived in the backyard either. Were they not allowed in the house? What about winter..I'm sure it got cold in winter. How did Jaycee work w/ the printing business? From a computer in the tent? Lots of quests.
Last week Dr. Phil did a show about this. He said Jaycee has a better chance to be normal because she remembers her normal life, but her daughters will have a lot of adjusting to do. How does one become 'normal' after that life?
I don't remember hearing the story of the Austrian girl living in a basement. How long was she there? Same situation as Jaycee?
I am seriously wishing that all rapists should have their "member" disabled in a way that they will never be able to use it again - after the first offense! There are too many repeat sex offenders.
Garrido's father says he's crazy & believes he killed the prostitues.
I'm still curious for more details of this case!

We briefly heard on news about a boy being locked in a empty room somewhere in Illinois at his Grandma's house. There was a dresser that you could open like a door to enter this room where the boy lived. The Grandma said he was sexually abused by his father, but yet they showed a pic of boy & his father looking happy. Father refuses to take lie detecter test. Mother lives in FL & looks like a crack head (according to Mike) & Grandma looks same. I'd like to hear more of this story too!

I hate to see stuff like this, it just makes me sick! I get told all the time how I am over protective of my kids, but I don't think so. If something happened one of my kids I would be devastated, then I would eventually end up in jail after hunting down the perp!!!
As little as the cops seem to ever do about it, Law of the West might just be the only Real solution. If I ever have kids, I'm gonna find a Real Small town to raise them in, one with Too many cops.
BTW, I Won't be reading any more news things here. The first & Last one gave me a nightmare. Just wish the Real nightmares weren't happening at all.

The Cops do alot. Its the Judges and lawyers who make the "justice" turn to "injustice". Once the arrest is made its totally out of their hands and up to the lawyers and judges.

Very true! Look what happened in OJ Simpson trial. Prosecuting attorneys screwed up.
Stumpy, I definitely stand corrected. Have an uncle who was a cop and quit cause he said no matter what they did, it was next to impossible to ever get a conviction.
But just the same, it still leaves a lot of innocent people in peril, like those girls in the backyard. The story said the cops could do nothing cause they didn't have a search warrant. That has to be obtained from the court. But 18 years of various people's suspicions & nothing done.... A story like that must be real encouraging for would-be rapists.

I knew one of the detectives involved in that case, and also knew he was lying on the witness stand because of things he had said to me in private about 6 months before the murders happened. I would have said something but honestly the media, the detective, and the thought of being drug into that circus scared me off.

Was that the guy accused of being prejudice against blacks (forgot his name) then moved out of state & wrote a book? He screwed things up when he testified.

I know what you mean momoese; But:
I feel this detective was wrong, he should have stepped forward. Since when does injustice trump self satisfaction. Who aided the criminal in this case? Don't take me wrong, I have a great respect for all police officers, but I also know everybody walks to their own beat. :drum:
The innocent are forced to suffer and be punished for the criminal's actions, whether or not the criminal is found guilty and that seems to relate only to getting caught in the act. Many people have been set up to take the fall :bungejumpnaner: for the actions of the criminal or crime boss. I know honest accountants who have worked for embezzling CEO's and who do you think is in prison now--not the CEO. I know honest people who have been set up by a group of criminals. But in court, it's all their words against the one. In a case of conspiracy or lack of evidence, the court system should allow truth syrum or hypnosis so the one can prove their innocents. I could go on forever, but I won't.
I just have one question for all to think about;
How can one person who has been set up prove his/hers innocents in court today if the criminals don't get caught in the act when commiting the crime and it's your word against the criminals?
Talk about injustice!!!!.......Yeah!!!!!.......Right!!!!!

From: Don Henley | Dirty Laundry lyrics (http://www.lyricsfreak.com/d/don+henley/dirty+laundry_20042033.html)
I make my living off the evening news
Just give me something-something I can use
People love it when you lose,
They love dirty laundry
Well, I coulda been an actor, but I wound up here
I just have to look good, I dont have to be clear
Come and whisper in my ear
Give us dirty laundry
Kick em when theyre up
Kick em when theyre down
Kick em when theyre up
Kick em when theyre down
Kick em when theyre up
Kick em when theyre down
Kick em when theyre up
Kick em all around
We got the bubble-headed-bleach-blonde who
Comes on at five
She can tell you bout the plane crash with a gleam
In her eye
Its interesting when people die-
Give us dirty laundry
Can we film the operation?
Is the head dead yet?
You know, the boys in the newsroom got a
Running bet
Get the widow on the set!
We need dirty laundry
You dont really need to find out whats going on
You dont really want to know just how far its gone
Just leave well enough alone
Eat your dirty laundry
Kick em when theyre up
Kick em when theyre down
Kick em when theyre up
Kick em when theyre down
Kick em when theyre up
Kick em when theyre down
Kick em when theyre stiff
Kick em all around
Dirty little secrets
Dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers in everybodys pie
We love to cut you down to size
We love dirty laundry
We can do the innuendo
We can dance and sing
When its said and done we havent told you a thing
We all know that crap is king
Give us dirty laundry!
