Commonly known as the Madagascar Palm. Was curious if anyone has ever cloned one of these? If so when is the best time to do so- I'm thinking early spring? I suppose it's like cloning any other type of plant and use root tone. Any special care to the cut area on the mother plant?

Main problem is that it was originally planted too close to the house and one branch is just about touching. I figured I could clone and start another somewhere else in the yard.

I havn't cloned that species in particular, but it shouldn't be much different from other cacti. Cut the branch off, let it dry for a couple of days to callus over. Stick it in some lightly moistened sharp sand and wait. don't over moisten the sand as it will cause rotting. As far as timing, whenever it is activly growing would be best. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Oh- ok, I'm glad you posted since I would have root toned it and planted it in the sand right away without drying.
