Just fine here, although one of the places we visit for agility trials is on fire. The smoke is going away from us here in West LA. The night Palos Verdes was burning it got a little smokey but not too bad. Here is what you see from my backyard. The clouds of smoke are enormous!

Safe here as well, Patty. The Auburn fire in northern CA is about 30 miles from me. 60 homes lost!

I hope no more homes burn. Of course the ash from the burned brush and trees are free potash!

all week the smoke has been so heavy her in Vegas we couldn't see the mountains gess its blowing over here from Cali yesterday when i went out in to the garden there was ash on all the plants for a second i thought i had an out brake of Spider Mites as it looked like tiny little white specks we are under air quality warnings and all say i feel a bit short winded i haven't ridden my bike all week because of it and the relentless hot dry wind is getting to every one its wired how hot it is should be cooling off at night but its staying up in to the 80s
Well on a positive or not so positive depending on were you live theres a tropical Hurricane off the cost of Baja thats suppose to move north in to the Sea of Cortes by Friday and should bring some much needed rain to you all and clear some of the smoke out

We usually have decent air quality on the west side due to the ocean air blowing the smog inand. Downtown LA, Pasadena, Burbank and anything on the Valley side of hill gets pretty ugly.

I checked in with my brother in law to see if he had talked to my niece recently, she lives in Eagle Rock and apparently the RV Park where they were going to stay when they go for a visit at Christmas was destroyed. My niece is in Europe at the moment and not sure she knows, hope her place stays OK.

This picture was on Yahoo news this morning. It shows the size of the smoke clouds behind Downtown Los Angeles.

I've been wondering about members out in California as well but kept forgetting to post. I'm very glad to hear that everyone is OK so far.

Mitchel, I saw that on the news too. They said it looks like a big bomb went off!
Haven't heard from Magilla Gorilla (?) He was in the midst of fires last year.
Did they say how the fires started? Prolly someone throwing a cigarette out the window!!! Grrrrrr

Wolfe, sure, I meant Canada too LOL. I didn't hear much about fires your way. Are they destroying houses there? Stay safe and know when to GET OUT & away from it.

I grew up in Santa Fe Springs just a stones throw away from East LA. If you look on the map where the 5 and 605 meet, from my yard on the corner of Longworth and Griddley rd. I was watching them tear down the homes and build the intersection and the new 605 freeway at the time :rollerbananadone:
I lost many neighborhood playmates :( including the person who showed me the dissappearing thumb trick when I was a little boy . My next door neighbor was a Police artist who helped the producers with the old Dragnet series . He was shot in the face, lost an eye, and survived then continued his duties as a police officer. :goteam:
Oh, the memories of yesterdays past.
The air quality wasn't as bad back then and it still hasn't improved, it has only gotten worst even with all the attempts to clean it up.
Anyway;
Thanks for bringing back some old memories of mine.

Wow, I grew up right down the road from you in La Mirada, basically La Mirada Blvd. and Leffingwell ave, right on the border with Whittier. I used to sell mirrors at the Santa Fe Springs Swap Meet where the old drive in was on Alondra. It's such a small world! The air quality here is way better than it is there! I still visit my step father who lives in La Habra, the next town east of La Mirada, and I can tell ya I don't miss the smog that's visible in the air.
Here is the house I grew up in, 4.8 miles from where you grew up!

Ok Kim, this is really weird! I was telling my mom how someone on this website grew up so close to where we used to live in La Mirada and she asked where you live now, to which I replied "in Riverside" She's says jokingly, "now she's probably 5 miles from me" (my mother lives in Norco) So I go and look at your pin on the map and sure enough, you live less than 6 miles from my mother!! :ha: She lives on Hillside just south of 6th. But wait, it's get's more strange. Twice a year we attend a small ASCA agility trial at the Lynnmark training facility which is just down the street from you. Wow!!

WOW just does not cover this coincidence. :goteam::woohoonaner::goteam:
Just a couple of miles south on La Mirada Blvd. and Rosecrans, my aunt still lives in her home in La Mirada :nanablowskisses: Then about 3 miles up Imperial Hwy from La Mirada Blvd her daughter (my cousin) lives in La Habra. My brother still lives in Whittier :flouenaner: As for Leffingwell, I drove that road many times going to band pratice :banana_pi. And I've been to the Drive in :0519: on Alondra when it was only used as a Drive in theater in the old days before Swap meets were even introduced. :nanerwizard:

Will do! We'll be out there this Sunday to drop some stuff off for her but don't plan on staying long. Next time we go for the day I'll let ya know.
I did actually see some movies at the drive in (with my parents) before it was only a swap meet.
Hey just for kicks, did you ever spend any time at La Mirada Regional Park? I pretty much grew up there. Love that place!!

If you are asking about the La Mirada Creek Park :raftingnaner: on Golden Lantern off of Santa Gertrudes, I have spent time there---on Party nights. :discocrazed: And be my guest and use your imagination :2715: We normally arrived S&D (Sober and Dry), then left W&W (Wet and Wasted). Musicians: what to do after the parade or an evening gig? :goteam: PARTY!!!:nanadrink:
Again, Thanks for the trip down memory lane.:0519:
WOW... I don't know any of those places. :lurk:
This Thread has been officially derailed!:ha:

Today I drove from San Diego to Gardena, Santa Monica, Downtown Los Angeles, and back. The air quality was pretty good for Los Angeles.
