Methinks the possible $125 like Jeffrey will have them for is probably a bit easier on the wallet - 2 for the same price as this one. Tho my wife would still beat me silly if I bought one now. :)

Did you ever wonder what happended to Stokes tropicals ample banana varieties?
Nowadays they have just a couple varieties on their website. I came to know a lot about rare banana varieties throught their website about 7 years ago. I still remember when they offered musella Lasiocarpa for over $100.:2720:

I think 250 is really over priced for such a small plant. Although I did have have a 7 gallon sized plant I had bought from a grower for 175 dollars and resold for 200. Not a huge profit really, but I wanted to help out a customer. It was a nice size and had some beautiful variegation in it. My largest aeae plant is just about to bloom - can't wait to try the fruit.
I should have about 3-4 aeae corms for sale at the end of the month.

I was there about a month and a half ago and they had very nice plants. Most were much larger that you usually get via mail but the price was reflective of their size. Most in the $18 to $25 range. I bought a hua moa and thousand fingers that were each about 2.5" in diameter at the base. Well worth it to me to spend a few extra $$ to get a well established plant. Now, their price for the ae-ae?? Its not worth it in my opinion when you can still get one for $125 from Royal Palms. Heck, Stokes wants $300 on their website! Enid at NSE said they hope to have a replenished stock in the spring also.

I bought one of the $99 ones from Natural Selections last year but it died soon after potting. I don't believe it was really ready to sell. The should have probably waited another month for the little corms to gain some weight.

I also bought a NSE Ae Ae three years ago. It was early in the spring and it was a plant they had from the year before so it was a pretty decent size. It hung around for two years before it croaked. Corm got to softball size before it died. Still don't know what happened. It had two beautiful pups also. Needless to say I was bummed. I haven't gotten the courage to try again - especially at the going prices.

I personally have purchased an Ae Ae from Stokes Tropicals web site, most beautiful banana I have ever gotten for $300.00. I wish I could have gotten the chance to get the one on ebay first.

Ok, so someone bought it for $250 plus $55 to ship it. The plant was about 24 inches of p-stem. The last one sold for $169 for 18" of p-stem. That's $81 for 6" more of p-stem, or $13.50 an inch!
That means my Ae Ae with 82" of p-stem must be worth a whopping $1,107.00! :nanarobot:
