Well i just signed up and am looking forward to chatting with you all. I live in Missouri so i am kinda limited to hardy tropical s but I do have a few.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I have been chatting with a fellow member and has been a great help...thanks Austin!!
I love the tropical look and have a pool and am slowly trying to make my own tropical paradise, I got divorced a year ago so i have not done a whole lot in the past year, so now its time to clean up and do some replanting.

Welcome, One thing for sure--you can grow bananas in containers, there are sevaral dwarf varieties--including super dwarf cavendish that you can grow in pretty small containers if you can bring them inside for winter and provide a little light.

At the bottom of the page-- past the last post--you will see a line "Forum Jump" with and arrow on the right--click that arrow and you will see a list of forums--select the forum you want and there should be a button at the top that says "New Thread"--click that and ask away.

Ray, welcome to the site! I'm glad to see you signed up. I didn't realize you were in Missouri...I had forgotten. There's a ton of information here. I think it's smart to go with bananas for your tropical garden since they grow like lightning speed compared to palms. Get the bananas going while you wait on your palms to grow!

Banana Bucks are just a way of saying thank you for using the site--there are functions on the site where you can use them---like the classified adds.

So were do you live about? what kind of plants do you have?
I go to UMSL in North County St. Louis, MO. I only have a single dorm room (it's decent sized, but not large) so my space is very limited. I manage to still have an Ice Cream, Siam Ruby, Ensete Maurelii, Ensete Superbum and a Super Dwarf Cavendish. As far as non-banana plants, I have a couple house plants (spider/airplane and prayer plants), a colocasia 'jacks giant' and just purchased a small travler's tree and some passiflora seeds. As you can guess, my room looks like a jungle (though most are outside right now), but I have the 'banana addiction' so it's difficult to resist new purchases! LOL :ha:

So what plants do you have?

Welcome aboard Raymond. If you can post a picture of your ornamental grass someone here will know it and respond or at least head you in the right direction.

Bryan......what did you just purchase?:ha::ha::ha:

LOL yeah, I finally broke down. I sometimes have control over the addiction and sometimes I don't. The problem is that the collection doesn't disappear when I have control....but it definitely grows when I don't! :ha:

Just a helpful hint...if you wish to quote/respond to several previous posts, use the 'multi-quote' button (looks like quotation marks with a plus) rather than consecutively posting. Just click the 'multi-quote' button for all posts you wish to quote. Once this is done, click 'quote' on the last post. Add in your text outside the brakets [] with the quote text within. Submit!

Hope that is helpful!
