Hey everyone! Still trying to get a camera, but have some great pics of my kids on my cell phone that I hope to share soon! Should be settled in a week or two. I will be settling in Changsha, Hunan province within a few days.

I have to say that China continues to amaze me with its warmth and hospitality. Everywhere I go opens new doors and despite the constant stares and amazement due to my height, everyone has been so friendly.

My kids have been so incredible that words cannot describe the elation I am feeling with the decision I have made.

I see so many new faces here and it warms my soul to see the growth - congratulations Jarred and to all of you, my friends, colleagues and fellow banana lovers.

I wish everyone the best and will report back as soon as possible. I am thinking of my buddy Tog and my good friends at Bananas.org every day.
My good friends Pauly, Harvey, Chong, Gabe, Ben, Bob, Bananaman, Sunfish, Richard, SaltyDad, Patty, Cassie, Magilla Gorilla, each and every one of you that have made my dreams come true - too numerous to mention, but never forgotten. (My regrets to those friends I did not mention specifically, my mind is elsewhere at the moment)

Now, to all of my threadwrecking friends, it would be an honor to have you impose your collective wills upon this thread. I will do my best to report back soon. And...I will be taking note of the best efforts because I guanta and I can!

Stephanie, I extend a special invitation to you to visit me in China or let me know how when we can get together there. I truly loved your Dad and hope that we can get together sometime soon. I would love to walk barefooted through his old haunts with you to feel M'sia as it was seen through his eyes.

Ni hao Scot,

I am happy to hear you are living your dream. Too many people have dreams they don't act on or spend a lifetime saving for and planning but then expire. Your 7 plants I purchased are doing great!! You will be proud I am up to 60 banana varieties. Live long and prosper and stay in touch!

60 banana varieties?

Holy Cow!!!! How big is your lot?

First let's remember Scot had many varieties. My property is less than an acre. Many are planted, many are in pots (getting ready to plant) and three varieties are new and will be arriving this week. My goal is to get most of them planted this year. I have a large hill that is mostly bare. Last weekend I planted 3 Manzano and 2 Raji puri. My goal is to move to the Big Island of Hawaii in 3-5 years and have 2-3 acres to live my dream out.

I have not been here in a long time and I'm glad to know it was the same time you were gone. It would not be the same without you. I can't tell you how much you have helped me and my banana growing. Glad to hear your doing good and having a new adventure.

Hi Scot,

your dreams in China will become true. I also have dreams. I'm currently for 4 weeks in Brazil in my second residence in Lucianópolis. My goals are to build one larger banana collection in Brazil, one of the largest and to move definetely and completely to Brazil under giving Germany up. Germany has not a good climate, there are also too many reasons to leave Germany for ever. My longterm dream is becoming one Brazilian citizen with Brazilian passport like my Brazilian guest daughter Leda. And there are also more dreams of me, to breed fruit bananas which are as hardy as Musa basjoo in Brazil, my Musa basjoo "Sakhalin" does well in Brazil now. And I also try to build one business up in Brazil, this is another dream. Another dream is to complete the English version of my banana book, it was some delayed because of the business plans with Fruit Raras, see also the link to the seedlist of Frutas Raras in English on my new website Bananas Raras (http://www.bananasraras.de.ki)

Best wishes from Brazil
Joachim
