Depends on your growing methods and your soil type. I use all organic methods. Some use chemical and or synthetic fertilizers.

Welcome to the site! I hope you enjoy it here and learn a lot about bananas and other plants! If you have questions, just ask...people are very knowledgeable and helpful here, so don't be shy! As far as fertilizer goes, I use a slow-release 12-12-12 fertilizer mix...nothing too fancy. Depending on the plant and soil conditions, optimally you might use a slightly different blend, but mine seems to work fine for me. Compost is also great organic material to feed your plants. Enjoy the site!
Welcome. You will find lots of helpful people here. As for fertilizer, bananas use more K than any other macro nutrient, N is next at a ratio of 1N to 1.5K, they do not need much P. As Lil RaverBoi said they will do fine with a balanced fertilizer. The do like a lot of organic matter or mulch in the soil.

Note that some "chemical" methods are also "organic", and every "organic" method involves "chemicals" present in media.

Ok so let's clarify for the newcomer. In my world (garden) it means I grow bananas using organic materials that consist of organically grown plants that are composted, organic animal poop, and minerals that are mined by man but not man made nor synthetic. I also like to breath a chemical know as oxygen that the plants produce. Others here do use the things I choose not to use which is their right and I really don't care what they do in their own yards. How's that Richard? Maybe you'd like to coin a new phrase or remind me of the terminology for my growing method. Maybe Super Organic, or how about Meganic. :ha:
Hi my name is Mitchel with one L and I grow Meganically. :waving:

Welcome Greg to Bananas dot org!! :2239:
Welcome Cherokee, as you can see there are a lot of good growers here using several methods of production and all are good in their differing ways. I grow the same as Mitchel so I won't repeat any info here. There has been great additions to the "wiki" on the blue bar at the top of the screen. Check it out (look under fertilizer or type it in under search)and if you have more questions fire away. Many are willing to help. Good luck and hope to hear more about your banana plants.
