What would you do?
Let see if I can express myself in my broke English ..I an a little angry…here it go..
How about If you plant a beautiful Goldfingers pup ..care, love, and wait for the result of an incredible journey of fruiting (a lest for me )and them one morning (today) like every morning I check on my bunch that by the way was starting to ripe and… my neighbor tenant just decide to cut it off an have it .
Yes, the bunch was growing in their side , but ,well I don’t know the laws in the city or in Florida in that respect ..but I think ethical’s law here are about understood ….Right ?
What would you do?

Here trees or anything else that grows over the property line can be cut off by the person in the other property
I trim the trees every year that hang over my side of the fence from my neighbors.
That said I would never take bananas that were hanging over
But I don't think that will be a problem for me here
Is the person renting from you?
Add it to their rent

Since you asked...
Best case, ask for some fingers. Ask to share, maybe over coffee and guava puffs. Interest them in growing bananas.
Worst case, you get none. It happens often up here in the cooler zones where old man winter/hurricanes rip our hearts out every year by killing our unripe fruit.
Gardening is a challenge, something is always trying to eat your work.

Whether or not they had the legal authority to do such a thing....that's VERY disrespectful! I would be pretty pissed, myself. I'd probably go over to their house and at least inquire about it. No way I would just let it go without saying anything to them about it....or it may continue in the future. I like to have good relations with my neighbors, so I would gladly share my bananas with them....but they couldn't just take it all for themselves without asking!

I'd be knocking on their door.

Talk to them about it as soon as possible. Be firm in demanding them back but promise them you'll give them a pup or some of the fruit in return. Make amends.
SoBe you have a rotten neighbor--I think I would have to tell him!
It may be legal to take something that is hanging over the fence, but that does not make it right.

WOW...that's not even OVER the fence....more ABOVE it! I'd definitely have a talk with them about it as soon as possible. Just keep it civil and try to work something out with them so you both are happy. It's definitely not something you should start a huge neighborly battle over...I'm a fan of having good relations with people (it helps out a LOT in the long run, trust me!). So yeah...ask for your bananas back but offer them something in return (pup, some of the bananas, etc). Good luck!
Sorry to hear what happened Emy. In California alot depends on the CC&R's and if there is a Homeowners Association. In my area both property owners are responsible and liable for a 4 foot easement along the property line (2 feet on each side of the property line). I would make a respectful neighbor visit and inquire about their reasons why they did it. California also has a state law about holding the property owners liable for the renters who rent their property. Find out who ownes the property and talk to them directly. I could only hope for you that things can be worked out in a peaceful maner. Best Wishes towards your solution.

I would be soooo angry! I hope you've gone there knocking on the door by now. If they don't give you the bunch back, call the police.

Well , a new day time to follow upwith my new raceme (is growing by my other side neighbor … he’s ok with my bananas growing though ..we share).
Unfortunally my other neighbor is an elderly couple that live out town and rent the house to these people.
I think an going to move on and move all pups far from the fence this weekend ..!I planted it too closed any ways ..a big mistake they are all around my fence.. never though 3years ago I will fall in love with the plant my first idea was just to get privacy and shade ... Who would though it!!
Thanks everybody,
Emily

Put up No Trespassing signs on each side of your perimeter fence! You will have greater recourse under Florida Law. :2239:

Martin, is that a sword? Can't quite make it out LOL.
Emily, I would not let that go by. If you are afraid to go there, is there a big guy that you know who could politely ask them where your bananas are?
I would still call police. You have the picture of the bunch.
Great blade, Martin! If ya need any help, I'll grab my 22" Cutlass! If it were my nanners, it wouldn't be a question of what I'd do, more a question of what the @#$%#$% neighbor would do to try & get away from me!
However, without the assistance of some great cutlery, might be best to find & send a King Kong over to reason with them & I'd definitely move any new pups away from the fence.

On a serious note....you want to be on good terms with your neighbors...I would go over and politely say hello and talk about your garden and what you are growing and just ask about the raceme and offer to share future banana fruit/pups (obviously they have an interest); hopefully they will do the same.
Good luck!!!

Hello,
You all remember the story of the neighbor and the missing Banana..
Here is the first pup of that original banana and is ready to fruit .
I throw a rope around the flower to tray to move the raceme to grow to my side.
It is going to affect the fruit.? Any better idea ..? Banana is close to the fence.

I could be wrong, but according to sacred geometry (LOL...I'm a hippy, I know!) the flower will tend to fall in a certain direction according to the pre-existing geometry of the plant (basically new leaves come out at a certain angle from the last leaf depending on the species). Not sure if you can angle it to a new side, but you can try at least!
OOOOOOORRRRRR.....you could go politely talk to your neighbor about the ownership of your fruit raceme...and kindly ask them to allow you to take possession of it upon ripening for exchange for a small amount of fruit given to them for mutual respect/acceptance. Just a thought.

Kill the neighbors and we'll watch on the news.
;)
I think your idea will work with a little more pressure each day until it grows your way. I have done this with a DC that was flowering on top of another DC and it worked just fine with absolutely no difference in bunch size or quality.

LOL...WOW....that's quite the drastic/irrational advice!!!!! EEK! Realize you're joking though *hugs*
Yeah, the rope method, whether or not it works, should not reduce the size of the fruit/bunch as far as I can logically extrapolate.

I'd keep a gun aimed at the nanas from now on with a motion detector to trigger it!!
And....I'm being NICE! :)
