I just planted 3 Kiwi plants today in a line |female|male|female| with bamboo posts between them 5 feet apart since I was told they can be trained up like grape vines. Is 5 feet too far apart for them to "mate"? This is my first attempt at kiwi... I have the same varieties you potted in matrimony.

Expect each plant to grow at least 5 feet high and 20+ feet wide, entangled with the others. Keep the 1st two feet from the ground clear of hanging vines and weeds, but mulch heavily. This way you will discourage vermin from living under the vines, plus you'll be able to find fruit that falls off the vines.
