Time for another one, folks! I'd like to see your best photographs on the subject of BANANAS, please. There will be four winners, and the prize is that you'll see your photo published in Issue 3 of Bananas Quarterly!

Here are the rules:

1. One photo per entrant, please
2. The subject should be bananas - how you interpret this is up to you
3. Post your submission in this thread
3a. You don't have to post high-res to the thread, but please have a high-res copy (300 ppi min.) on hand in case you win
4. Our judges will pick four winners and announce them here
5. The contest closes on September 12 at midnight Ecuador time (which I believe is EST, but I could be wrong.)

Best of luck, all! I look forward to seeing all your lovely entries!

LOL. I was just being tongue-in-cheek with my last response. I was taught the wrong way early in my life but eventually learned the correct way.

momoese: I just noticed that you are in L.A. FYI, the photo I submitted, Banana In A Vase, was accepted for exhibition this year at the L.A. County Fair, which begins on Sept. 5. If you get a chance check it out at the fair. The photo also won a prize at the San Mateo County Fair this year (that's near San Francisco).

So far I am still impressed with the entries, but what categories are to be considered when judging. Is it size, shape, color, type, eatable, non-eatable, context, position, or pictorialization. I can only assume the category will be pictorialization. I can only be a critic of observation in this contest until I have a nanner picture to submit in the future.
Again, Best of Luck to all entrants.;););)

Kim,

The catagory for this month is simply "bananas". We usually judge a photo for it's overall merits.

Kim, the contest this quarter is any interpretation of Bananas - as such the banana in a vase is of equal merit to the ae'ae with the gecko. We're judging this round on composition, crispness, technique, and impact.

Great entries so far, guys, and there's one cover shot in here as well (I'll tell you who got the Issue 4 cover at the end of the contest - I wasn't expecting to see a cover submitted, but hey - it's always a bonus when one shows up!)

Keep 'em coming!

Wasn't there a rule that they were all supposed to be taken with the camera straight up? There is no way they can even fit in the magazine page unless they are longer width than height.

Sadly, I don't think I have anything worthy this time!

So...I'm surfing the internet today and come across my photo on a cover of BQ magazine.

Lorax had deliberately misspelled my last name so it would be difficult for me to find. I sent her an email, but got no response.
