Hi All!

This my oldest daughter's IC.
http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=20999&size=1 (http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=20999)

The little pup is thriving more so than the main stalk.

I know she is overwatering...she thinks I'm nuts...'Bananas NEED water MOM!!!'

What can I advise her from the experts? HELP!!

Thank you in advance!! :) ~Cheryl

Just put bag over it for humidity and that should stop her from watering :).

Hey! Oldest Daughter! That banana has rot from overwatering!

Here's some tips about growing stuff in pots:

She now believes me!!! YAY!!!
It is not gonna get water for a week.
Then she's give it some fertilizer...

Open for more trouble???

Stay tuned for Part II of 'Mama's Crazy!!' :D ~Cheryl

Ask her nicely (in cool and soothing sounds) to not fertilize until she waters again....

Taking the opposite point of view. She's a kid, let her have fun with it and kill it if thats what she'd do. It's only a replaceable banana. Ice creams are a dime a dozen. The best gardeners get there by killing a few along the way and learning from it. If it isn't fun for her she probably won't do it too long.

Yeah, if she kills it, I can get you another one.

You should let her come water my IC. It's in a 7 gallon pot right now and after watering it with almost a gallon of water, it looks dry in a few hours. I doubt she could over-water this thirsty beast as long as the sun is shining. LOL.

Thank you for your input & kind offers!
Brent, Christel says if she pulls this plant through, she'd love to have another IC to celebrate!! :D

She is 20yo...

She has been reading with me at night to up her knowledge on bananas & other plants.

She wants to be successful with this as she spent her own money to buy it.
She doesn't want to be like some young people who don't care & when they're done with it(something), they're done!
She is putting forth effert!

I applaud her for trying!! Thank you for all your Help! :) ~Cheryl & Christel

I buy stuff with my own money and still kill it. LOL. I actually am going to lean towards BOB and say let her go on her own. Let her do her own research and if she kills it, let her ask why.
A great friend told me " you ain't no expert til' you killed at least a thousand plants.

You learn by makin mistakes.

A thousand? That could get expensive! I say there is no such thing as an expert. We all have problems with our plants at some point.
