Today i was getting really worried about my basjoo,it was declining i mean really declining to smaller and smaller leaves, the p-stem was becoming weak,so what i did was wash the first few inches away with the water hose and i found that it was rotten on the side,i thought i could cut the rotten part off and it may survive, well i was wrong-the more i cut the deeper the infection was,it had rotton from inside out basically:(,so i pulled it out and i cut the sword pups off to see if they were rotten also, all but three were rotten(out of 7) so i cut them off with a clean knife, and im letting them dry out a little before i plant them, there all the basjoo i have left, the reason my beloved nanna passed was due to a full week of rain we had recently :(,how can i keep my babies she left behind from rotting?,anyway heres some pix :( *TEARS* <a href=http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=20963&ppuser=4948><img src=http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=20963&size=1 border=0></a> <a href=http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=20962&ppuser=4948><img src=http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=20962&size=1 border=0></a> <a href=http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=20965&ppuser=4948><img src=http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=20965&size=1 border=0></a><a href=http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=20964&ppuser=4948><img src=http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=20964&size=1 border=0></a> <a href=http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=20961&ppuser=4948><img src=http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=20961&size=1 border=0></a>

Did you see bugs or could it have been from overwintering outside?

First of all its not growing right? )you know what i would do , if you know for sure it wont grow anymore, cut it back put it in a pot and water it only when it gets really dry you never know , some roots might take in a month or so and it could bounce back , all the best with it . good luck

I'm with Matt, this plant can still make it. If it were me I'd trim the corm down, maybe a dip in rooting hormone cut the top down and replant. I wonder how many of us are going to have rot issues due to excessive rain this year? Nothing left to loose right?
