OK, so I've been kicking around the idea of having a little get together this fall for some of Texas and Louisiana members and I wanted to start this thread to get an idea of how many people would be interested in participating. Actually, this is open to anyone who would be interested in traveling here-not just TX and LA members. I'm thinking about sometime in October so that the temps will be more comfortable but I don't have an exact date yet. I'm in the Houston area, so figure your driving/flying time and give me a yell if you're interested. I'll start by putting my name at the top of the list here and we'll try to keep a running tally.
1.) Bananaman88 (Brent)
2.) CValentine (Cheryl)
3.) Buffy
4.) Steve L
5.) Ewitte
6.) Conjov
7) Lagniappe
8.) Southlatropical
9.) Bob
10.) Lonie

That's a great idea, I hope the European banana growers will unite one day and meet somewhere.
Good luck.

Shall list you as #2 then? It doesn't have to be definite at this point; I'm just trying to gauge interest.

How large is Texas? More than 50000miles2?
Brent, I'm sorry for derailing this thread, but it is for its own good. I wish that this thread remains always on the top of the "New posts" screen. ;)

C'mon people, support Brent's idea. It's a nice one. Now you make it look like its date, only Brent and Cheryl. :woohoonaner:

I'm three and half hours out. I'm interested. I have a very messy fall coming up with a new baby and a new house arriving in October, so hard commitments are impossible. But I'd definitely be interested.

I'm in Brent if you can schedule it in the month of October. I can't miss any weekends during duck and goose season

Thenks to all who have shown interest so far...but you're really messing up the mood for me and Cheryl!

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I'm 'Orging mobile' from Memphis to Fordoche and while the kids can text faster than they speak I can only type a few words perminute with my big ol' micky mouse hands. We're looking forward to staying with one of two sets of aunts and uncles in the Houston area for that weekend. BTW ...whatever happened with the crawfish boil planned years back.

Pete...so is that a "yes" that you are interested?

I would like to go, but it's hard to say I'll be there with 100% certainty. With the kids it's hard to know what will come up.

Pete...so is that a "yes" that you are interested? Yes......sheesh, I got to start sleepin' more so I can remember to add all these little details
to my replies.

Isaac-I'll go ahead and put you down. You don't have to say "yes" for sure right now. We haven't picked a date yet and this may never happen. I'm in the early planning stages.

I know we have more that eight members in the TX/LA region. Anyone else interested? Again, if you want to attend, you don't have to be from this area if you don't mind the drive/flight! Everyone is welcome...even you Bob! I guess I need to start thinking about a specific date too. Hmmm.....

When picking a date you may want to consider what the game times are.

To some of us college football is a religion.:D
I'll have to keep an eye on this thread.....been missing a lot lately due to schedule. Keep me posted on date. Everyone knows there's no better fun than a banana(s) gathering. I'll bring the 99 bananas:ha:

Bob,
Your going to come down from New Jersey? I used to live in Vineland and Hightstown.
Bob,

I'll do it if I can schedule it right. Giants football is a religion up here , I have tickets to several games. Last year in the stadium. Vineland and Hightstown aye? Bet you were an iggles fan:mad::ha::ha: Most people I know that way are.
Funny I've found that several members here were lived in New Jersey but had the sense to move to warmer climates. I hope we can all meet up.

iggles?
We lived there for a few years in the mid/late 80's when I was a kid. It was COLD in the winter. I do miss the great Italian food there though.
"iggles" is what Philadelphians' call the eagles (I use other more colorful terms) . Every single person I've talked to that lived here has mentioned the Italian foodI guess I've always taken it for granted.

OK I get it, iggles. No, I am a long suffering Saints fan.

I had not really thought about any of the games. I'm more of a NASCAR fan but I love football as well. I will likely do it on a Saturday anyhow. It's possible that we could do it late Sept.instead of Oct. I have two things coming up that the dates are still up in the air on and it's making it a pain to try to pick a date.

I wish I could nail down a date right now but until my wife and I figure out when exactly we are going on vacation, I just can't say. I'll try to set a date ASAP. Sorry for dragging this out.

OK, we're getting closer to picking a vacation date, so maybe that will help. The new issue is that we are possibly looking at buying a house a few miles away and could possibly be busy with moving. We aren't for sure yet. I probably shouldn't have brought anything up about a meeting until I was a little more sure that I could pull this off. I'll keep you all posted.

Sign me up. I would be interested in a trip to Houston. The sooner you can pick a date the better. Lake Charles, La. is just a bit down the road from Houstin.
