:ha:

My chickens sorta free roam my garden area well actually only 2 of them jump the fence, the oldest pair. They only look for bugs in the morning then wait by the door for my 16 month old to come out and hand feed them some cat food. They used to only bother my collard greens and tomato plants and I would plant a lot of them so they could share. Now I have to move my banana plants because they have decided that the leaves are very tasty!

How odd! My hens don't even want to look at the bananas.

they don't go crazy on the banana plants like they do Collards... looks like they are just tasting each leaf for flavor and texture! lol

Putting them up high on cinder blocks to be out of reach in case they forgot with ones they sampled!

I wonder if I can plant a pup tall enough in the chicken run. Not really afraid that they will damage the leaves but damaging the shallow roots by scratching around the plants.

Thanks for the info. I am getting chicks in a week or so. I've got tons of banana plants and tomatoes. When the weather gets cooler I will plant lots of collards and other greens. This shouldbhelp to keep my chickens well fed and entertained when they get bigger.
