It seems like some sort of disease or insects have got ahold of my plant. I uploaded some pics to the gallery. Has anyone seen this before?

I would say insects or slugs. Although my basjoo red had very similar damage to the leaves caused by choking...

This looks exactly like Japanese beetle damage that I had , particularly if they got at it while the leaf was unfurled. The damage starts out as a few chew hols and ends up just like your picture. Funny thing they only went for the Basjoo and D. Namwah. The rest unscathed.

I had a similar problem. Take a lot on the prior thread. http://www.bananas.org/f2/help-unwelcome-visitor-devouring-nanas-5589.html#post48339

Thanks everyone for getting back to me.

Jack - you mentioned choking. I'm wondering if this could be what's going on. I think I may have planted my musa's too close to each other. I have 3 growing here in a burried pot (about 60" in diameter.) Do you or anyone else know what the recommeneded distance is for musa basjoos or documentation around what happens when they are too close? I have a small yard and @ 23 so far so I tried to put these in groups througout the yard.

Thanks!
Byron
