Welcome aboard. I'm sure you'll have a small "plantation" going in no time. Be sure to check out the many features of the site. The wiki is very helpful as well as the search feature allowing you to check on specific information you're interested in.

Well Bob? We're waiting :ha: ! - He probably got lost in one of the Gros Michel threads, somewhere....
Welcome aboard, Blake :) ! I'd say you're getting the hang of it. If you have any questions about how to use the forum, feel free to ask. Somebody must've figured it out by now.... I hope.

BananaBucks are one of the most profound mysteries in our Solor System, to date... Even NASA's at a loss :ha: !
If you go to the "Site News" section, near bottom of homepage, you'll find an entire thread dedicated to trying to resolve the strange phenomena.
Have fun, I have!

I thought I was going overboard. I just started and I'm up to 5 banana plants. I have a Misssion fig from last fall too and was also looking at a pomegranate. There seems to be a pattern here. I didn't know they had dwarf varieties. At least your in zone 8. I'm in 6 so I have to figure out how to store these for the winter.

Glad to see you made it! Too funny about your comment "The Hollyberry Lady said that this a great site and id get a banana plant fast. So here I am!" I just about fell off my chair!

: O

That was something I told you privately, just to let you know how nice people on here can be. I didn't mean to imply that people will just give away free banana plants, but if you spend some time on here, and chat with people, someone nice may help you out.

I always offered something in return, like some of my great seeds. Anyway Blake, your comment was innocent and cute, and it made me laugh that way you put it. I think it was the 'so here I am' part. Like you were saying 'so where's my plant'? LoL!

Hope you enjoy the IBS forum, and good luck in your quest for a banana plant or seeds.

Haha, got you. :D HBL, choose your words carefully, Leonidas, they may be your last as a king. :)
Just kiddin'.
Don't be ashamed about what you said. We know how you meant it. And that's why we like you so much. You're a wonderful person to talk to etc etc. :)
I wonder what Bob will say, his witty and sarcastic comment will make it much funnier. Once again, HBL, don't worry, we understood and we like you. ;)

No, the little boy pic is just a joke, nothing more. I just thought it was cute, but I can see your point, from a man's point of view. Ouch!

Well, thanks for the reassurances that I am liked - or so you think! Hahahaha.

I am hoping that Blake won't be too embarrassed to chat on this forum now, after what I said. The whole thing is kind of funny when you really think about it.

Yes, it will be interesting to hear what Bob has to say...

We would be really stupid and arrogant, if we didn't accept him as our friend. Let us hope, that he will suffer from terrible and incurable banana mania soon. :D

First, I give more plants away than anyone I know and will have a ton more to get out in September so my home doesn't look like a certain person who for now will remain nameless. It's kind of cool to have crazy folks like this un-named person( and I admit myself) be so happy over a plant. That's what its all aboot (other than eating:ha:) If you garden and don't share and trade with friends or aquaintences .....you won't have to many gardening friends or aquaintences and end up kind of a:witchnaner:.

ok Hollyberry ........I've got you figured out..........you're probably holding back one of your multitude of cartoons that involves an electric fence or some other form of tasteless midieval torture:ha::ha::ha: Have at it.:2719::exercisenaner::2750:

This reminds me of one funny situation (usually when people think I'm joking, I'm not and vice versa). We were sitting in a camp and I was about 10 years old and each of us was supposed to tell one characteristic of his nature. So I said I was funny (I hadn't been funny til then) and everyone bursted into incredibly loud laughter.
Then they realized what they'd done and I proved my point. :D :D :D

I don't know, whether you ever looked at my description (just below the Jack Daw user name on the post). It says: I think with my... and I assure you, it's not a plant. Ha ha ha. :D :D :D ;)

I am in between zone 6-7 and I am located on the upstate of S.C. usa.

Zone 6/7 will be a challance for growing bananas, inground that is. For container growing there are several dwarf varieties that will do well Super Dwarf Cavendish would be a good start.

The good thing about your zone is the aility to grow some great stone fruits (peaches, plums, and cherries).

:waving:I planted two cherry trees last spring. Only got a handful off of each this year and they weren't that sweet. Maybe as the trees get older they'll improve. How does a banana like ice cream compare to a store bought. Is there a really a big difference?

Well, it's like comparing Bugatti Veyron to Honda Civic. Apart from that, there's no difference. Although I can't know it just yet, but I haven't heard a single person say that home-grown bananas aren't superior to those in supermarkets. ;)

Not much, just the same as the difference between sweet lemonade and a half-ripe lemon :) !
Store bought nanners are just soooooo bitter .

Yeah, I'm addicted to bananas as well! It's a fun addiction though...much better than being a heroin addict or something :ha: Enjoy the site!
