View Full Version : If we could have 1 more forum category here, what would it be?

As the title states, if you could pick 1 additional forum category here, what would it be? Depending on the response and the need for anything in particular, we might either run a poll or just do the needful. Or if you think things are perfect the way they are, that means we did a good job so far, so you can let us know if that's the case as well.
Thanks in advance for your input.

All good suggestions, keep them coming. You can vote more than once.
Also, if you agree with something that's already been posted, please indicate so.
Actually, I think the site's Super as is..!.... But, then, I know so much about bamboo & we've already got a Wiki for my only other overpowering interest, Bananas.

What if we renamed this section:
Tissue Culturing Banana Plants (http://www.bananas.org/f260/)
to include other propagation methods? Thoughts everyone? Or would other methods of banana propagation warrant _another_ section?

Like much of North America, overwintering methods other than my favorite of all "time to put the bananas to sleep for winter".

I like the idea of a category on banana propagation with threads for different approaches and experiences. Renaming the current "TC" thread seems to be a natural approach.
The topic of hydroponics has generated a lot of interest along with indoor lighting. "Indoor Growing" is an inclusive category for these topics, or a bit broader: "Indoor and Greenhouse Growing".
Why not???

Somehow I get the strangest feeling we're not talking about.... Scotch?
Richard, I agree 100%. That would be a natural approach.

I could be wrong but the vast magarity of people live in one of two regions here in the USA that bing South Eastern and South west/west cost why not regional categories its a thought but I'm happy with my desert growing thread and so far theres only been a hand full of people that are in to that so maybe its not that good an idea theres quite a few categories that don't get that much play iv pretty much found that most of what i want to start threads on is covered

That could very well do the trick. Maybe to Banana propagation techniques and other tricks?

We have regional sections now, Europe being the first. Check it out on the homepage. Let me know what region you want. Check out the member map and determine what would be best and we can do that -
Bananas.org - Member Map - Map of our member's locations! (http://www.bananas.org/vbgooglemapme.php)
See where everyone is grouped and we can break them apart. If someone else wants to help with this please let me know what you all want as far as more regions. I really like to do these regions when the need really exists, the Europe section made huge sense. Thanks in advance.

btw Jack Daw we can do utilization at a later date if you think it will be used and filled with information. Would you contribute more of what you know if we had the section? Anyone else agree we can use a dedicated forum to discuss how people use the plant other than as a food? I dont want it to be so empty if we do set it up, so would like to talk about this suggestion some more first. Thanks in advance.

Well, I think many people would find out, that they don't have to chop down the plants that have flowered already senselessly, but can make them into textile, paper and other useful materials (yeah, like anyone would actually try that). :D
Also, I was surprised to hear, what verything can be eaten on bananas. Not just the fruit. :D Corms, flowers, leaves with meat...
But I also agree, that the time for it will come. I intend to try everything I've read about American and African practices. :waving:

I read somwhere in members suggestions about members meeting forum and I thing that might be a wonderfull idea. With a ton of pix, course.
That will definitivlly improove trading and socialisation among members, specially for U, US members. U travel much more than we do here and U have much better chances for meeting each others:nanadrink:

In time your English will improve to the level when you say it's excellent enough, I don't doubt that.
English is also one of the limiting factors for most of the Europeans. Although we all can speak English one way or another, it's almost completely different language. :D Accents, slangs... European wing is still very young, but I believe that in time everything will be possible. :bananas_b
