Has anyone ever grown and tasted FHIA-18 in Florida. It is described as a cold hardy "manzano" type. I am curious as to just how cold hardy and how much like a "manzano" banana it is. Agristarts has it listed in the catalog so I guess they are planning on making some in the next year.

There is a photo of FHIA 18 and some information here in my presentation:

HI Scot, not important but in your presentation listed on page 7 it lists "Highgate" a dwarf Bluefields as a parent of FHIA 23. I was under the impression that there was no gros michel varieties in this cultivar and have told people so. Are you sure? ( I realize it's probably wrong to ask you that but ...........) How would a lay person research this? I checked the FHIA site and don't see anything .

Bob, my memory banks don't hold that information. I suppose I was sure about the facts in my presentation when I prepared the presentation and I also had it reviewed by an expert before I presented it, but that was before I achieved enlightenment and knew the TRVTH (TM) about All Schtuff. <wink>. I am open to being corrected. You folks are not really lay persons, I hope you know that.

Nicolas I planted some FHIA 1, 18, and 23 from TC in late December '08 and they are all doing quite well and appear to remain disease free, but have not yet produced fruit. I'll let you know about the fruit when it comes off.
