3rd day in a row for this fantastic air show here at our lakefront. I LOVE JETS! These guys are doing loops & stunts - most I can't see, but they are flying right over my backyard sometimes upside down & sideways, so low, I can see the pilots!! I swear they are so fast & loud they might break the sound barrier. You can hear them but you never where they'll come from. All of a sudden, you'll hear a LOUD roar & there they go...right past you. If you blink you might miss it. So exciting I gotta scream every time LOL I could get a better view from park across the street (west) but I'm too lazy. They go west of lake (Michigan) & get together & fly back to lakefront in formation - RIGHT OVER MY YARD & then do the flips & loops. I just love them. I'd take a pic but by the time I snap one, they are too far away. Summerfest is over (near here) but every wkend, there is some festival there.

The Thunderbirds Rock, several years ago they came to the Rockford Airshow, they practiced on Thursday while I was at work, They flew over the shop for 2 hours doing their routine, I was a Machinist at Hamilton Sundstrand, they Make Electrical Generating Systems, Actuation Systems and the Starter Gearboxes for the F-16, I stood outside and watched as they were practicing the whole time, My Boss, my Section Manager and eventually the Plant Manager came out and asked what I was doing, I simply told them that after 23 years this was first chance to see my Handywork in action, all three went back inside the building after telling me to enjoy the show, it was greatly appreciated by everyone at our plantsite. It is nice to see something you've had a hand in building working, and working so well! :bananas_b

The Thunderbirds used to pratice their shows at Indian Springs AFB when it was operational in the 70's and where I was stationed. My son's got to sit in the cockpit of the T-38's they were flying at the time. I even have a picture of two of the T-38's as they were flying low off the runway and towards each other where their nose tips crossed like two swords before the duel.:2727: That picture ended up in the Thunderbirds Flight Room at Indian Springs. They are fantastic, aren't they? I'm glad that you had a chance to enjoy their show.
Best Wishes;

The show went on till it got dark out last night! Earlier, (they said on news last night) a F16 engine swallowed a bird & had to land - but safely- whew! They will do it again today till 4pm, so Bill, c'mon over! There were 1,000's at lakefront & they do this every year but I've been gone last 3-4 years on this wkend. German fest is also going on at summerfest grounds.
Wouldn't you know, I was watering the yard & 2 flew right over me..they were refueling in the air. What a sight!!! Of course flying slower & low enough that I coulda snapped a good pic but NO FRICKIN CAMERA! I was there for hours this wkend ready to snap, but they went by too fast. There were other jets & some red stunt planes & I think fighter planes but I only know the F16's.
I will only catch it for a couple hours today - gotta go to Mike's house & some lucky person will love me for the parking space I give them:).

See, I told you one of them was gonna try to take out your Ice Cream banana. Its sending you messages saying let me die, first it drops all leaves, then it takes out a satellite box, now trying to get a plane to crash into it. Watch out for a tornado next. LOL.

That ice cream is at Mike's house 35 miles north ha ha. It's sister is in my yard here.
I'm trying to get ready to go there but now the F16's are out & I just got a pic of the refueling thing right over my yard! I'll see how they turned out when I get to Mikes & post some good ones.
One just went strait up spinning, till you couldn't see it any more. I never saw it come down.
Next year, I will make sure I stay home this wkend & walk 3 blocks to lakefront to get a better view. Too many big trees & tall buildings. Oh, I hear them coming again....
Makes me want to join Air Force LOL

I just dug out my video of the Air show here in '92 - Weymouth Naval Air Base - now closed. I'm converting it to digital on the PC
