Hi, I am new to this, but I love my banana tree. I live in Hampton, Virginia. Near Virginia Beach. What is a good tree to get? I think I have a Bosjoo? My friend gave me one and now I have 3! How do I divide and transplant to another area? Does anybody have some I can buy at a good price? I had 2 others that died over the winter. Not sure what kind they were.

thanks!

Welcome aboard, Carol!

Basjoo is a fantastic starter banana; you can also look into the hardier varieties (like CA Cold Hardy for example), or if you're committed to bringing the plant in over the winter, you can look at bananas like Dwarf Orinoco. I'm sure members in your area will chime in with what they're growing, and they might even have pups they're willing to part with.

Time To Separate Pups (http://www.bananas.org/f2/time-separate-pups-spring-1814.html) is an excellent guide to how to separate and transplant.

Welcome to the site! I hope you enjoy the great information that spills out around here and the awesome community. Check the classified section for plants people are trying to sell. I'm sure you'll be able to find something. And if you have a particular thing you're looking for, that would also be a great place to post.
