When I got my AeAe from Hawaii on 10/6/08 the stock was 11" tall. 9 months later the stock is 4 ft tall and the plant has produced it's first pup. Does this seem rather
premature for a AeAe to be throwing out a pup already?

It is OK.
They will do that from time to time.

Actually, 9 months of growth should yield a pup for most any banana.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it. Definitely not ABnormal. Hell, my SDC was putting out a pup when it was a month old. The pup shouldn't affect the growth of the main plant and when it's large enough, you can separate it into a new plant to keep (or sell...could be lucrative with the AEAE market as it is).
