Thank you kindly for having me join your group.

I am looking for the yellow pitaya plants to buy, either full plants or cuttings to ship to FL in the US. I am a hobby grower of rare fruiting plants and enjoy most. Find the pitaya an interesting plant and must know all I can. Can someone direct me? 813-610-0207 EST

Good luck Brand - never seen a yellow one and I presume you are referring to the colour of the flesh.

I have the yellow pitaya, the fruits have spines on them right now and should ripen in a month or so. Excalibur Rare fruit trees sells them here in West Palm Beach. They are beautiful flowers if you get out at night. This is a picture of one. The best way to grow them is on a post covered in burlap. The Yellow pitaya doesn't seem to have a root that grabs the tree like other varieties so the burlap helps.http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=13896&size=1 (http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=13896&ppuser=3915&sl=c)
You can see my hand the blossom is 6 inches across, the fruit is sweeter than the red. You can start then from a cutting.

Thank you for the reply to my yellow pitaya interest. I will call Excalibur and visit them. Do you have the number?

Here is their website: Excalibur Rare Fruit Trees (http://www.excaliburfruittrees.com/)

... and here is their plight with the county: A grower's dilemma: A nursery owner's lawsuit claims the county's zoning demands went too far (http://www.palmbeachpost.com/business/content/business/epaper/2008/12/01/a1f_nursery_1201.html)

I had just about every blossom set fruit on the Yellow.
The Red was another story evidently I need to find another species of red that blooms within 48 hours to cross pollinate with the one I had. Sounded like to much work to me so I started all over with the red. The yellow have a great self defense mechanism, some long spines, be careful!
