Thursday I potted up 6 new bananas, that I had just come in the mail, and repotted one that I bought locally a day or two before.
How long does it take them to acclimatize to new surroundings? I have kept them outside all day, since I potted them, but have kept them out of direct sunlight.
All but the repotted plant, which I think was root bound, have put out a new leaf since I potted them. By afternoon, most of their leaves wilt a fair bit. Temps have been right aroung 100F. By morning, they seem refreshed.
Have I gone about this the wrong way? What are other things that I should be aware of, to avoid problems.
I watered them the day I potted them, but not since. They soil is dry on top but still seems moist an inch and a half down. I will probably water them tomorrow.
How established should they be before giving them fertilizer?
The plant that I rescued from the local grocer and repotted does not seem to be progressing. There is a new leaf that wants to come out, but it has not changed since I got it. If is was root bound, will it recover from that and put roots out farther, now that it is in a new pot? Also, should I cut some of the leaves off it..it has several, so that it can focus on roots and new growth?
Here is a link to a post where I put pics of them (not great pics) http://www.bananas.org/f311/re-potting-need-help-8608.html#post83998
Any feedback on the Ca Gold, (the nana in the ground) would also be appreciated. I was told to not rewater it again until it got some signs of new growth/life. It does not seem to be growing..neither does it seem to be going downhill at all anymore. It has a pretty good sized corm. How long does it usually take to see new growth?
Thanks for any feedback.
