You guys can zoom all the way in and place the marker on your house like I did. I'm pretty sure you don't live on a golf course or on the sandy beach right?
BTW, the images they use are very old. I see a tree in my front yard that was cut down over two years ago!

New map of what?
Google Maps
MapQuest
Yahoo Maps
Microsoft Terra Server?
US GIS servers?
NOAA maps?

I couldn't even zoom that close for mine. Living in a 1-horse town does afford some anonymity, I guess. Best thing I can say is... I live over yonder. :)
Grin,
Mike

Thanks Momoese!
Could not zoom close enough via satellite mode, so switched over to street map mode and marked where my bananas are supposed to be.

I had to do the same as JoeReal. I had to switch to the othre mode but I found my neighborhood, so I am on the map now.

Don't fret. Now that the "Them" know where you are, they'll certainly get a really high rez spy-sat image of your casa. Smile for the camera! Hey - nice nanners! :)

That is pretty cool. I mapped my location too, right into the backyard! The picture is many years old, though. There are a few trees standing in the picture that have been dead now for many years, and my neighbor's fence is still complete (it is rotten and half of it is gone now!). A couple of the neighbors' pools in the picture are gone now also. Ok, so now I've posted pictures of my yard online, given a detailed map of how to get here...guess I need a surveillance system now to keep internet predators from stealing my bananas!

I was messing with it. Got excited how close you can zoom in, but kept getting message I wasn't entering enough info. Was gonna get husband to help, but he doesn't want me to post where I live. Men... bah!

That's understandable in this day and age. I just figure if someone really wants to find me they can and will, but they might not like what I have waiting for them! :ha: I was messing with it. This will be cool to see how many states we cover!

That's right - if someone is hard up enough to drive all the way out here, I'll either banana-slap him or offer him some coffee and a nanner-pup... :)

Mike

Yep, Mike.. if he doesn't show up when you're not home... leaving you without so much as a nanner pup left. :)
Soooo.. who's closest to me with the best stuff, and when do ya'll go on vacation??? *Zooming in on the map* Lemme see.. there's Zac, not too far off, and of course our resident teenager Taylor, but I don't want my own stuff back. *lol*

Yeah I have to admit I love messing around on google Earth, but I know that was most likely a spy satellite originally. I sure would like to get my hands on their version. I bet you could see a ton of plants and things.
Carolina- If you really want a Musa basjoo, come here. All other plants I would notice if they came up missing.

What I suggest is using a nearby landmark, tower, park, bridge, etc.
Carolina, ask him if that would be ok! :p

That's is why I chose the Beach. My mom did'nt want everyone to know where I live. That is my reason....

This is cool. Wonder when they will update. My neighborhood has totally been redone and the past two years and it still shows all the old stuff.

I've joined the Map Group:banana_ve , I'm next door to banana_fun, well sort of.
BTW, banana_fun living next to the Scarborough Bluffs must be very nice and is that a pool in your backyard?
This map thing is very cool.:scroll: and so are these Smilies

Carolina, you just to need type some info into the blanks, any info will work. The last blank is if you want to post a picture.

Well, if some strange fella where to end up on your doorstep begging for a banana pup, he may get a little... miffed. :)
Hey - am I the only one stuck in Texas? Jeepers - I'm so isolated out here! Sigh...

Zac, I'm so totally unimpressed with basjoo. Maybe next spring I'll have to try another one that's not a little wuss like what I have now. Just don't know what's wrong with mine.

Mitchel, instruction, huh? It's like you're saying, "be a real woman, do what you want" *Hehe*
Mike, yeah, it's the "strange" part that worries me more than the "miffed" part. :) And you've got the whole state to yourself? I have to share....

Carolina- They really aren't very happy in the heat of summer( better in the spring and fall from my experience), but mine are maybe 14 feet overall. Most have about 6 feet of pseudostem right now. The mat is 3 years old from a 15 dollar, 3 gallon plant from Home Depot. I know I have sent divisions of mine to Gabe in Colorado and to a friend just outside of Chicago. The one in Chicago seems to sulk in the heat, but I think it needs to be mulched heavier than it is right now.

Yep, Zac.. it just seemed to take a turn for the worse when we had those really hot days a few weeks ago. I'm expecting it to do better next year.. (with more than just a foot of psuedostem, and yeah, stop the danged snickering) ..and will plant it in a better location.

Carolina, sounds to me that you want to be on the map. Just put a location close to home like others have done or you could put a location like in let's say......Costa Rica! ;)

I do.. so I did. :)
But I stayed where I am, although Costa Rica sounds lovely this time of year!

Put the marker on Ramsey High School, NJ, minutes from my house. At my house this image appears to have been taken long before I discovered bananas!
A side note, sorry for bringing it up in a banana forum, but its been on my mind for several days:
- FDNY Firefighter Mike Reilly who you may have heard about on the news, died last Sunday while fighting a fire in the Bronx (NY)... He was a buddy of mine at RHS for 3 years in the marching band, and he will be sorely missed. His funeral is today, Friday, Sept 1, and is drawing up to 20,000 firefighters from across the country, and will more than double the population of our small town. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers when you read this. In addition, please look at this link to learn about my fallen friend, and his lieutenant who also lost his life in this tragedy. http://wcbstv.com/local/local_story_241115459.html

~Joe
