Greetings to all
At this page:
Fastest Growing bananas - Banana Forum - GardenWeb (http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/banana/msg1211211917160.html)
it is reported that a Ice cream banana grew something like almost 3 meters in one summer in Tennessee. Some people didn't confirm though that it is so fast growing. What do you think of what is said at the said link? Thanks
Interesting read Kalabrian. My ice Cream has the fastest growth of a pup I've seen. Dwarf Nam Wah has been outstanding for me here so I would consider that so far the fastest. Ask again in September and I'll have a well considered opinion. Great post.

I think it's very relative. The fastest-growing banana plant I've ever had was a Rosadito (tiny red bananas) - it put on about 10 feet in just under 5 months and fruited a large bunch very promptly.

This strongly varies with climate (and much more MICROclimate). I was told by plantain growers, that's why they have to examine the plants first in side-by-side growing and then evaluate (usually 15 to 30 cultivars), which plantain is suitable for growing in those specific conditions. Microclimate, soil fertility, soil pH, humidity... that all plays in favor or against different varietes. Nice reading you posted us. Tnx.
But I believe that you will find answer to this very soon. :)

It is just magical, how so many different varieties grow absolutely differently in many regions. :D

Thousand fingers is the fastest for me - 10ft of pstem and first bunch of fruit developing in 11 months - took off the moment it hit the dirt!
