Any of you two crazies have an "Attraction" water lilly? It was my favorite way back when.

Attraction's a real nice lily. I don't have it currently though.

Vickie - those are just gorgeous!! I love the blue lily - in Africa, the pools that the rhino go into to cool off in the heat of the day, are full of huge blue water lilies - lovely and kind of surreal!

Nice pond! I am jealous. I can only have a whiskey barrel pond here. Maybe I might be able to do a raised timber pond for water lilies if the landlord doesnt mind. :)
My lotus are still just floating pads because of the June Gloom, maybe aerials at the end of August lol. :(

Bob, attraction is a very common hardy vartiety and can easily be found in those pond plant boxes at many Lowes or Home Depot.

Cassie I wonder if the lily is Blue Capensis in Africa?

If you want a lotus to really bloom, fertilize the heck out of it. They take about twice as much fertilizer as a water lily to get really good blooms. Mine are just getting ready to bloom-large buds, but I haven't fertilized as much as usual.

Vickie - blue capensis - who knows? I wasn't going to ask the rhino but the flowers were very large.

I love Black Princess. Midnight Embers is small right now because I stored it as a tuber all winter. It was potted as a tuber in June. It sprouted and this is its first bloom this year. The plant will get bigger and so will the blooms. I do have 2 true minatures one is tropical and one is hardy.

Wow...these are all great pictures! What's with the bubble thing for your fish!? That's really cool...how does it work?

Vickie H.

The bubble is called a Sphere. It sets on a plastic stand in the water. You have a tube like thing you can make it work like a vacume to suck the air out and make the water go up into it. The fish are just naturally curious and swim up in it. I love it but it gets algae real bad and takes a long time to clean it out. I don't put it in the pond every year.
