Patty, I'll pm you with the link to the video. I would imagine it was removed by the mods for the harsh language.

well it had a warning stated clearly on the thread heading that is was highly adult i don't like others making judgments about what i should or shouldn't have access to i found that song to be highly compelling in its artistic and political statements whether you liked it or not i think it was poignant and not only said allot about MJ but really pointed out some of what i find to be the most disappointing aspects of American society to day i thought such a thought provoking vid could bring about real discourse and possibly bring to light some understanding about were we are as a society and were we want to be in comparison
I some times feel that others are way to in to what i am doing to the point that they feel they have a right to dictate.

I thought the video was thought provoking as well, but it could just as easily have been made without the excessive harsh language which would have made it more acceptable to a larger audience and produced more banter about the jest of it.
I'm big on the 1st amendment but I can only imagine the look on Harvey's face if he had opened that with his son in the room. I didn't see if Mike changed the thread title before it was removed, but the original title only warned "explicit" IMO that was not enough warning as I stated in my post in that thread. I don't really know if that waranted it being removed, but this is a privatley run site and the owner and mods can do as they wish. I think all in all they have let some discisions here get pretty spicy before saying anything or removing threads. I do post on a few boards where cussing and any sort of language is allowed and this video would have been laughed at for being too mild. ;)
As for the video, I totally agree with what was said, but do you really expect anything less from the "media"? I don't.

Ok, I just listened to it & it made a great point. The media made fun of him for so long & now they say what a genious he was. There was some foul language but... what it is.

well they can do as they wish. you are right its there site. but my esteem
and trust in the judgments of people that make those kinds of censoship decisions has gone down a notch or two. as far as parents go i guess he/she should practice good parenting. not making it the responsibility of others to heed what there child should be privy to. not saying that really about any one specifically harvyc or other wise.!

Hey, last summer, I had my picture of the three dollar bill removed. Nobody would say who did it, or why.

Yeah, Pete sent me a link to a video earlier this year and I quickly learned it wasn't "family" content so I think proper warnings are necessary. I caught it quick enough and Pete got more embarrassed than I did. I never saw the video in question, I've been too busy trying to catch up after goofing off backpacking last week.

Jarred had responded to that (3-dollar bill) thread where he said that he himself did not know who removed the image in that post. He further stated that he's given Moderators the latitude to delete any post or thread that they deem is offensive or inappropriate, and that it's their call. I can tell you all, also, that it wasn't I, either. Though, keep in mind, "Big Brother" may be watching!
Before all speculation gets out of hand, the last post on the thread regarding MJ's demise, contained this note: "from the rules:
1. No content that is considered racist, sexist, obscene, objectionable, or otherwise offensive comments will be tolerated. All such posts or content will be deleted without notice. This includes avatars and uploaded photos. This could result in the loss of your membership."
BTW, there have been several other instances where Moderators have removed posts, and even banned some offenders, for language and content. Although in most cases, the enforcing Moderator identified himself and gave the reason for the action.

As Chong noted, it is clearly stated in the rules of the site. Let's make another thing quite clear here: Nobody is telling anybody what they can or can't watch, listen to, or read! The video is on YouTube, open access for all who wish to go see it! Personally, I thought it was some pretty obscene language in the video. Any 10-12 year old kid can probably log onto bananas.org and watch the video if it is imbedded in the thread...something the parents may not be too keen on. However, they may have YouTube blocked so their kids can't watch questionable videos like that one.
That's a good question...if a website is blocked, can they still see a video from that site if the video is imbedded in another website?
I never saw the three dollar bill thread. Sounds interesting! However, Patty, since it was deleted once before, I would suggest John not post it again. Doesn't that just make good sense? Are you just trying to start trouble? :lurk:

I don't know what all the fuss is about. I didn't see the MJ clip, and I'm not really interested in seeing it. However, my posting was funny, a joke, a little political satire. I can read the comic strips Doonesbury, and Mallard Filmore (Covering both sides of the political spectrum) and laugh at both.
Cannot anyone else do that?

The 3 dollar bill picture wasn't just a 3 dollar bill, it was what some call a racist attack, maybe a joke to some people at the now President Obama. At the time it was posted there was much political discussion/bashing going on here by myself and others. If you want to see it search for something called "Obama bucks"

BTW, my wife and I along with every other LA resident will be paying for that POS's Staples Center cerimony that took place today shutting down freeways and roads all over the place so his family could drive around. Unbelievable! Los Angeles is broke and firing teachers while paying for that nonsense. All the while every frigin news chopper in town was on top of my house all afternoon covering this stupid mess.

Horse is fairly dead here. However, we try to keep the site as neutral as possible and not have anything that's offensive, obscene, or even borderline or questionable.
We got complaints about the video, it was vulgar, so it got removed.
What I said then about the 3 dollar bill is still true today. Not sure what happened there but whatever it was, it was questionable, and taken care of by someone.
Lastly, and I hate to link to it but - #9 (http://www.bananas.org/rules.php#9).
Lets just sing a good round of kumbaya shall we.

I am sorry you didn't see it. It was funny.
Apparently, since some people find this so objectionable, if you want to see it, send me an e-mail.

It was, in no way, meant to be anything racist or, for that matter, partisan. I, once some time ago, when Obama firsst came upon the scene, posted a joke, where Bush was purported to say, "Obama, that's the guy we're trying to catch, isn't he?"
See, I am bi-pqrtisan.
And, Mitch, all I can say to you is that your people voted for those who authorized the expense. Here's hoping some private corps will step up to cover oart of the cost.

Your'e right Frank, that was stupid of me. Not trying to start trouble - just was over curious about it & not thinking.
I wanted to see (or hear) the MJ video so Mitchel sent it in PM.
John also sent me the 3 dollar bill & now my curiosity is satisfied. To me, it was a political joke but, only takes one member to be offended & report to a mod. I think sometimes they'd be left alone unless someone complains to a mod, so it's not always just a mod deleting what he doesn't like.
