I just thought I would drop by and find ways of growing bananas. I have grown many things hydroponically, and I am venturing in growing bananas in hydro. I will be growing them here in Ohio in a greenhouse. Maybe if you have some insight I will gladly listen. In the meantime, I have a few questions about the banana herb I will search your sight to find answers. My main question is.........Does the banana respond to Photoperiodicity?

Nope. Bananas respond to heat and cold, and to humidity and water levels.
Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the answer. Will any of those elements force the banana to bloom?

There are several important factors. For instance, bananas will not flower, when the soil temperatures are very low and the air temperatures never go above 27°C (apx 80°F). They will also go many times to a short term hibernation, if exposed to dry conditions for longer period of time. The same with too low tempratures. Ideal is around 27 to 34°C.
Welcome Ohio's Best, I'm sure you'll get all the help you need. We have several members from Ohio who are excellent growers.

Welcome to the organization Ohio's Best!
I can find little data to answer that question, you are in a postion latitudinally to conduct an appropriate experiment to try to answer that question.
Grow them in the green house, record your temps and daylight lengths throughout the years, and see if your hypothesis is supported by the data.
Good Growing!! :2239:
